While the French president might be going viral for his political and marriage troubles, one being that has remained constant in his life is his black Labrador Retriever-Griffon dog, Nemo. The furry friend who has appeared in multiple conferences and meetings was born in southern France in 2015 where he was abandoned soon. He was living as a shelter dog in 2017 when he was adopted by Macron's wife. While he was named Marin before, he was given the name 'Nemo' based on the character Captain Nemo from Jules Vern's novel '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea', a favourite of the President's.

What's interesting about Putin's pets is the fact that they were all gifted to him. Pasha, a Sarplaninac and Verni, an Alabi, were gifts from the presidents of Serbia and Turkmenistan. Whereas Yume, an Akita and Buffy, a Bulgarian Shepherd were gifted to him by Japan's Akita Prefecture and Bulgaria respectively.
