Patron of the TonyBlair Faith Foundation and former UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair and formerinternational Indian cricketer Rohan Gavaskar were present at the function thatwas held in the capital at the British ambassador Richard Stagg’sresidence on Wednesday morning.
The Tony Blair Faith Foundation inIndia currently has two active programmes. The Faiths Act Fellowship, agold-standard young leadership programme has for the first time this yearwelcomed four outstanding young people from India, alongside Fellows from theUK, USA, Canada and Sierra Leone. They are currently working in New Delhi tospearhead multi-faith action to combat malaria and maternal mortality, and arebased in two host organisations, the Kutumb Foundation and Deepalaya.
The Foundation’s second initiative, a global schools programme“Face to Faith”, works in over 80 schools in the New Delhi area. Itis a compelling educational programme that engages students of different faithsin 17 countries across the world. Students talk about global issues and discusseach other’s often-differing perspectives – developing key skillsneeded in today’s 21st century world. Face to Faith students is alsoengaged in working to help eliminate deaths from malaria. The cricket matchdemonstrated the importance for communities to work together in the fightagainst the disease, by aiming to “knock malaria for six”.
