Maharashtra day 2026: History and significance and important events
Maharashtra Day is celebrated every year on May 1 to mark the formation of the state of Maharashtra in 1960. After India became independent, the issue of state reorganisation based on language was gaining momentum. It was through the Samyukta Maharashtra movement that the need for the state of Maharashtra was strongly felt.
