Actor Sanjay Mishra joins Shiv Barat celebrations in Varanasi
The annual Shiv Barat procession taken out on Mahashivratri witnessed a special moment in Varanasi this year, with Sanjay Mishra joining the festivities. The Aankhon Dekhi actor, who shares a long-standing personal connection with the city, became part of the traditional procession, drawing attention from devotees and onlookers alike.
Dressed in ethnic attire and wearing a rudraksh mala, Mishra was seen seated on a decorated carriage as he greeted people along the route. His presence added a distinctive touch to the celebrations, with many stopping to catch a glimpse of the actor during the spiritual procession.
Speaking about the experience, Mishra said he had been invited to attend a function at a private college, and the visit coincided with Mahashivratri. “I was fortunate that my trip aligned with the festival, which gave me the opportunity to celebrate Mahashivratri in Kashi. This city feels like home to me,” he shared.
Recalling his childhood, the actor added that Shiv Barat holds special meaning for him. “Shiv baraat mere ghar ka utsav hai. Being part of this celebration is very close to my heart. I have many fond memories of Mahashivratri from my growing-up years in Varanasi,” he said.
The actor’s participation was warmly received by locals, making the procession all the more memorable this year.
