A look inside the newly opened lounge at Delhi Airport
The space offers multiple cuisines to choose from, bars with a speakeasy vibe and crafted cocktails, an exclusive range of teas, and a delightful variety of ice creams - almost as if you have stepped into an ice cream parlour. There are also dedicated areas to sleep, shower, and relax - all while you are up in the air.
Air India has recently unveiled its first flagship lounge at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Amid the growing culture of selecting lounges before take-off, this one is sure to spark FOMO if you haven’t experienced it yet.
Tired after a long flight or facing a long layover? Why not indulge in some much-needed beauty sleep?
While most lounges offer reclining chairs to stretch out, the newly opened Maharaja Lounge goes a step further. In addition to comfortable recliners for all guests, First Class passengers can unwind in dedicated sleep suites designed for restorative rest. The lounge also offers a curated dining experience, with a wide selection of Indian and international delicacies, including live cooking stations.
Guests can enjoy a range of cocktails crafted by specialist mixologists. For teetotallers, a tea trolley serves freshly brewed selections, adding a refined and thoughtful touch.
What truly stands out is that the space offers something for everyone. Solo travellers can head to the bar and strike up a conversation with the mixologists, while food enthusiasts can explore a range of culinary delights at their own pace. For those who prefer a quieter moment, there’s a dedicated reading area. And if relaxation is the priority, there are comfortable spaces designed simply to unwind.
The lounge has been thoughtfully divided into distinct zones - cosy corners for individuals, larger seating arrangements for groups, family-friendly sections, and spaces suited for single travellers seeking privacy. The layout feels intentional, ensuring that whether you’re travelling alone, with friends, or with family, there’s a setting that matches your mood.
Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, who was present at the launch, said, "The Maharaja Lounge at Delhi airport is a significant milestone in our transformation journey. It is a tangible and proud representation of the ‘New Air India Experience’. We aim to set a benchmark in aviation hospitality, and this is just the beginning. Our strategic expansion plans include substantial investments to build more such platforms across the countries we operate in, redefining luxury and comfort for our guests."
