Simple mantras

The world today is extremely competitive! Be it academics, job-hunting, playing a sport, or anything that involves other people too, there is tough competition everywhere and between millions no less. The constant race of trying to excel in everything and anything, is increasing stress day by day. And so, to prevent this stress, excess overwhelm, distractions, and the likes in children, here are 6 mantras that can really help.

2/7

Gayatri Mantra

Mantra - ‘Om Bhur Bhuva Swaha, Tat Savitur Varenyam, Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi, Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat’
A mantra that should be taught to every kid, early on in their childhood, is the Gayatri mantra. The Gayatri Mantra is considered to be the mother of the Vedas and is the small essence of the divine light and wisdom that the universe has for us.

It is said that reciting and chanting the Gayatri mantra invokes the energy of the supreme power and helps in removing any forms of ignorance from the mind and fill it with intellect and wisdom.

3/7

Om Namah Shivaya

The simple chant of ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ is extremely powerful and filled with divine energy. It is also one of the most powerful Shiva mantras and simply means ‘I bow down in front of Lord Shiva’.
This mantra, by making us realise how strong and powerful the divine is, and how we must bow down to them, instils a sense of humility in our mind, making us more grounded and down to Earth. It also helps children be more stable mentally and the regular chant of this mantra helps them embrace change and overcome obstacles with grace.

4/7

Hanuman Chalisa

While many would think that the Hanuman Chalisa is rather lengthy for little children to recite and memorise, over time it becomes extremely simple and practice is the key to everything!
The Hanuman Chalisa is one of the best devotional hymns for Lord Hanuman, who is the epitome of devotion, strength, and selflessness. Each verse of the Hanuman Chalisa narrates something about his life, virtues, attributes, and his unwavering dedication to Lord Rama. Teaching children the Hanuman Chalisa adds in them a feeling of courage, protection, humility, and devotion. It encourages them to develop qualities like Lord Hanuman and be fearless in what they do.

5/7

Guru Mantra

Mantra - Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Gurur Devo Maheshwara, Guru Sakshat Parabrahma, Tasmai Shri Guruve Namaha.
While children are always taught that no one is above God, the scriptures themselves say that a teacher is higher than God himself. The Guru Mantra is dedicated to the teachers, professors and people one meets in life who teach you the right and wrong and set the right path for you. It recognises the guru or ‘the teacher’ as the one who is divine, just like Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, and is the one to guide his or her students from darkness to light.

6/7

Mahamrityunjaya Mantra

Mantra - Om Tryambakam Yajamahe, Sugandhim Pushti-Vardhanam, Urvarukamiva Bandhanan, Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat
One of the most powerful Shiva mantras, that has been respected as being capable of conquering the fear of death in people, is a must teach to students and children. The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra helps kids develop a shield of protection around themselves and eventually free them from the fears of the world. The mantra translates to - ‘We worship the three-eyed Lord Shiva, who nourishes and spreads fragrance, like the ripened cucumber . May He liberate us from death for the sake of scare and immortality.
Teaching children this mantra helps them be more resilient, have faith in the divine, and have a sense of security. It fills them with the belief that problems can be overcome, and that they have the inner strength to conquer all evil.

7/7

Saraswati Mantra

Mantra - Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu, Vidya Rupen Samsthita, Namastasye Namastasye Namastasye Namo Namaha.
Maa Saraswati is the one who has the divine powers to give the blessings of wisdom and intellect. She is the giver of knowledge, creativity, and wisdom and children can benefit greatly by worshipping her.
This mantra of Maa Saraswati acknowledges her presence in all living beings and puts her in the position where she is one with and is a form of knowledge in herself. Teaching children this mantra helps them develop an appreciation for learning, arts, and intellectual pursuits. It inspires them to develop and improve their inner talents, be more creative, constantly improve themselves and be in the good eyes of Maa Saraswati.
