Why office affairs are big, bad TROUBLE

Why office affairs are big, bad TROUBLE

Getting attracted to someone in the office is very common as you’re surrounded by people with the same interests. You meet people who share the same professional goals, making it inevitable to get attracted to a coworker. No matter how thrilling the secret meetings or stolen kisses might be, office romances call for trouble, especially if you’re married. Not only is your reputation and career on the line, so is the future of your marriage. To avoid heading towards such trouble, here are some reasons why you shouldn't get involved in an office affair.

2/7

Company policies

Many companies have strict policies against coworkers getting involved in a personal relationship. And if you and your partner happen to get caught or fail to follow the basic rules, then it might cost you both your jobs.

3/7

Office gossips

It’s the unspoken rule; rumours spread like wildfire in the office. And if you and your coworker start an affair with each other, everybody will somehow, definitely get to know and start gossiping about you both. Being in the constant eye of the public can feel very uncomfortable and also slowly ruin the relationship.

4/7

The end of an already established relationship

If you’re married and engaging in an office affair, it destroys your standing existing relationship. It clearly won’t have any good consequences. It’s not wise at all, to lose years of love, trust and understanding with your partner over an office affair.

5/7

Not-so-smooth relationship

An office affair is never peaceful. There might be hostility among coworkers if you happen to date someone from the higher-ups. There might be favouritism, objection in fairness towards all, especially if someone superior is involved. Additionally, when the power comes into play, there might be a conflict of interests, resulting in disapproval and a shaky relationship.

6/7

Complicated affairs

If you happen to break up with your partner, you will avoid running into them. However, if it’s an office affair, then it can be very difficult to avoid them, at all. And hence, you might even avoid coming to the office, just to stay out of your ex’s way. This can lead to constant absenteeism which can be harmful to your career.

7/7

Mixed feelings about success

No matter how reasonable you try to be, getting jealous of your partner’s success is natural. But if you both are working together, the jealousy can be heightened, causing rifts in the relationship. What’s more, you won’t be able to give your 100% to your work because you will be distracted by your partner’s presence all the time.
