Signs you need to leave a toxic job (no matter how much it pays)

Pay close attention to these signs

A toxic workplace drains out all the energy from you. An ideal workplace should encourage you to work harder, reach heights and perform better as an individual. But if you have been facing criticism way too often, or if your boss never appreciates your capability or hard work, it can get really tiresome. A toxic workplace prioritises success and money over the well-being of its employees. Long working hours, stress outside of work, never receiving a hike in position or salary, in spite of your high productivity, are only some of the indicators that you need to resign from your toxic job as soon as possible. Hence, we bring to you some possible reasons why leaving such a job is very important for your mental, physical and emotional well-being.

2/6

No in-between work breaks

If your boss doesn't allow you in-between work breaks and pressurises you to work continuously without giving you an adequate amount of pay, then you either need to have a word with the boss or leave the job. Being underworked and underpaid shouldn’t be the norm.

3/6

Harsh criticism

Do you face fear every time you submit your project or are awaiting feedback from your manager? This fear is probably because you’re scared of getting harshly criticised or scrutinized by your boss, no matter how well you did your job. Feedbacks should provide you with an opportunity to grow, not be scared by it!

4/6

Disregard for well-being

You need to be fit, healthy and mentally intact when you work in the office. But if your office continues to offload a huge amount of work on your shoulder without paying any heed to your mental capacity, then it’s a huge worry. Your body shouldn’t suffer from extreme stress, tiredness or headaches from working too much, and for long hours, without any breaks.

5/6

No recognition of your work

Feeling demotivated from never being appreciated by your boss, is quite apparent. Your boss should be able to timely give you feedback on your mistakes and also praise you for your good work. This balance helps an employee to work productivity and keep the high spirits up.

6/6

Wrong take on accountability

Just because you’re the junior of the team, doesn’t mean you get blamed for others’ mistakes. Your team members should take their mistakes into account, rather than paging it all on you. If you’re getting blamed for others’ faults, even after expressing your concern, then this toxic workplace doesn’t respect you or your work.
