A study reveals why Indian employees leave their jobs

It is not just low compensation or unprofessional managers that make employees quit their jobs. A recent survey done on a massive scale tried analysing the latest trends in the corporate sector in India and globally, and revealed some pretty insightful findings. The study suggests that the major reason why Indian employees resign from an organisation is ‘limited career path’. Here are all the details of this study.

Details about this massive study

Randstad, a multinational human resource consulting firm, conducted an extensive survey across 32 countries and had more than two lakh participants. Coming to India, the researchers surveyed around 3500 respondents who were asked a bunch of questions related to their jobs, work-life balance, career aspirations etc.

3/9

The reasons

The study concluded 43 per cent Indians leave their job because of limited career path, 36 per cent blame poor work-life balance and 33 per say it is their low compensation.

4/9

It’s not just about salary

Well, a majority of the participants (47 per cent) look for attractive salary and benefits in their job but almost 46 per cent prefer work-life balance. Also, 41 per cent consider job security as an important factor.

5/9

Women vs. Men

49 per cent of women credited salary and benefits as the top factor while choosing an employer and about 46 per cent men voted for the same. Also, 47 per cent women voted for work life balance in comparison to 46 per cent men.

6/9

The most attractive sectors to work

What are the most lucrative sectors to work in? 67 per cent of the participants voted for IT, ITeS, telecom, and an equal number voted for retail, FMCG & e-commerce. Auto was the next most preferred sector with 66 per cent votes.

7/9

The kind of employers

55 per cent of the professionals would like to work for multinational corporations, 10 per cent prefer small to mid-size businesses and just 9 per cent would like to work in a start-up.

8/9

Other statistics

Interestingly, 52 percent of the respondents are willing to give up more than 10 per cent of their salary for job security and a whopping 45 per cent plan to switch to a new job by next year.
