We promised them anonymity and here are some real stories that may make some of you more aware of your own situation! Read on to know.

He told me he had married a lesbian

“I knew that some couples get married because they are gay and lesbian but since this is unacceptable in our society, they tie the know and go about having their own respective lives. So when this well-educated simple man told me that he had married a lesbian who was a great friend to him, I believed him and we began a relationship that made me regret so much that I needed therapy to get over it. We were together for a year when a WhatsApp on his phone pushed me into a pool of quicksand. He always had a lock on his WhatsApp and I too never cared because I am not such a person. We had just had sex and he went to get us some food. His phone was unlocked and I saw a raunchy WhatsApp from his wife. I could feel my blood draining as I went deeper into the chat. His wife was very much straight but he was with me having an affair even when they were clearly enjoying a good sex life!”

He said his wife used to beat him

“He was handsome and we worked in the same office. He asked me out and we had a roaring affair for at least 7 months. Initially, we kept it a secret but when I told a colleague, she was shocked and told me that Ajit was a married man! He had been married for 5 years now. When confronted, he broke down and told me that he was in an abusive marriage and that his wife used to hit him because she had temper issues. He shared that he was stuck in a loveless and unhappy marriage and that I made him happy. I felt so bad… After a few days, we resumed where we had left off but maintained that I had dumped him for office people to believe. We dated for 3 more months when one day, his wife walked in with a huge baby bump and created this huge drama at work which revealed that he had lied to me. He was married, was expecting twins with his wife and while she was dealing with the pregnancy, he was with me! I felt horrible but his wife never blamed me. She told me that I was not the only one he was galavanting with!

He told me that he was married but not on papers

“The man I was seeing was a married man but he had a childhood marriage in his village when he was just 12. He told me that he never lived with her, that he had left the village right after school for further studies and that it has been 20 years, and they are not in touch. We were together for 10 years. He used to travel a lot due to his work. Every 2 weeks he was out and he loved me so much that I never suspected anything. In fact, he saved me from domestic abuse in my first marriage! One day, when he wasn't home, he had gone downstairs to get something, he accidentally left his passport and papers pouch outside and I realised I had never seen it. I opened it to see his picture to make fun of him because we all have old pics when we were clumsy or not. But to my shock, it had the details of his wife and the address was for another place in our city itself! On confrontation, I got to know, he had a 16-year-old daughter as well, and those 2 weeks of travelling? He used to live in that house in Mayur Vihar! My whole life turned into a scam…”
