Lord Kamadeva, the God of sexual attraction is an integral part of all our lives if you have carnal desires and lust. But did you know all these interesting facts about him? Scroll down to know all about him including the mantras to worship him for a good sex life with your partner.

Kamadeva’s parents

According to mythological legends, Lord Kamadev was Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi’s son. He had married the Goddess of infatuation and lust, Goddess Rati. However, some stories suggest that he was the son of Lord Brahma and that he also had some relation with Lord Shiva.

Other names of Kamadeva

Like Lord Krishna, Lord Ganesha and Lord Shiva, Lord Kamadeva too has many names. They are Manmath, Mansija, Gandharv, Arthdev, Madonna, Ratikant, Ananga, Kandarp, Ragavrunt etc. Sometimes he is also addressed as Yaksha.

His look

As depicted in mythological texts and paintings, Lord Kamadeva is supposed to be this handsome man who has golden wings and holds a bow and arrow. He rides a parrot shaped chariot in some scriptures and an elephant in others.

The honey soaked weapons

As per the legend, Kamadev carries a honey soaked and sugar coated bowstring while the arrows are decorated with flowers. He carries 5 arrows with him namely: Ummadan, Shoshan, Jrumbhan, Maran and Stambhan.

When to worship him

Lord Kamadeva is worshiped on Vasant Panchami, spring time, which is why his arrows are adorned with flowers as per legends. His arrows, when released, do not make a single sound because of the flowers.

Where does he reside?

Going by Mudgal Purana, Kamadev lives in all seductive things. All those things that fill us with carnal desire and lust, are Kamadev’s doings.
