India has a huge population but the hypocrisy is that the sex talk is still a taboo in our country. Our parents want us to have children but how we bring that result, the process is shushed! If you are in that situation too where you have parents in the next room and it is awkward for you to even mention anything related to sex, let alone standing very close to your partner then worry not, we have some tips that will help you out. If you have your parents in the house or you live in a joint family then sex can be an issue especially if you make noise. So, as the first resort, try heading to the car, or on any other floor in the house which is out of their earshot. You could wait for nightfall but that would be a lot if the urge is in the daytime.

Instead of the creaking bed, you could try having sex on the floor itself. Throw in a few blankets and some lush cozy pillows to make it cosy and comfortable. This prevents the squeaky sounds or the headboard banging and you can do it easily.

Just to avoid any awkward situation especially in an Indian household, it is best to play the TV and let that be the background music. You could also have some music instead of a TV but a TV serial or a movie makes for the best cover up. Just keep it real and normal so that it does not look out of place.

If your bathroom is in your room then bolt your room from inside and head to the bathroom for a hot one on one. You could make a routine where you wait for your parents to retire to their bedroom even if for an afternoon nap and then do it in the bathroom.

Besides the above tips, the best way to have fun, take it slow or experiment without meeting your parents in the hallway while you are at it, would be to take weekend trips. Many Indians would suggest that weekend trips to nearby places or sending the family to overnight picnics are the best way to dodge the awkward situations. Many couples take up a B&B or a hotel in the corner of their city as well. You could call it a night out at a friend’s place but go to the place instead.
