Keep these tips in mind

Having sex during your period can be a personal choice; some people may find it more comfortable than others. It may be gross for a few but many experienced couples would say it is fun. Here are some tips to make the experience more enjoyable:

2/8

Use protection

It does not matter whether you are on your period or not, it is always possible to get pregnant. Use a condom or another form of birth control to reduce the risk of pregnancy.

3/8

Communicate with your partner

It's important to have open and honest communication with your partner about your feelings and any concerns you may have. If you don’t let them know how you feel, how will they understand? Communication is the key to a good bond.

4/8

Find the right position

Some sex positions, such as those where the woman is on top, can be more comfortable during periods. Experiment to find what works best for you and your partner.

5/8

Use a menstrual cup or a tampon

If you're concerned about mess, consider using a menstrual cup or a tampon before having sex. This can help reduce the amount of menstrual blood that may be released during intercourse.

6/8

Keep a towel or two ready

It's always good to have a towel or two nearby to clean up after sex because it will be messy. You can also keep alcohol-free wet wipes in case you end up feeling icky.

7/8

A shower please

Take a shower or a bath before having sex. It will make you feel more comfortable as the smell during periods can be off-putting for some. This can help you feel cleaner and refreshed.

8/8

Don't feel pressure

It's important to remember that having sex during your period is a personal choice, and there is no pressure to do it if you don't feel comfortable.

Keep in mind that it's totally normal for some people to have more pain or cramps during their period, so if you feel discomfort or pain is too much, it's better to avoid having sex during that time. Do keep in mind the increased risk of STIs during this time. Having sex during your period can be a perfectly safe and enjoyable experience as long as you take the necessary precautions and communicate with your partner.
