Kshama finally marries herself!

Update: Kshama Bindu, the 24-year-old woman from Vadodara, Gujarat finally married herself on Wednesday after she advocated the act of sologamy. Clad in a beautiful wedding attire, Kshama kept her promise to herself. Her friends who were present at the private affair showered her with all the love and support. Initially, she was about to wed herself in a temple, but changed the venue to her home, to avoid any last minute trouble. She even had a haldi and mehendi function that was celebrated with a lot of fervour.

Initially, Kshama was set to marry on June 11, but she preponed the wedding to avoid any controversy after her self-wedding caused quite the stir in her neighbourhood. To know more about Kshama and her act of sologamy, read on:

24-year-old set to marry herself!

From what comes as an interesting twist, a 24-year-old woman from Vadodara, Gujrat is all set to marry herself, calling it an ‘act of sologamy.’ Kshama Bindu is determined to marry herself because she wants to be a bride, even though she has never been attracted to the idea of getting married to someone. Calling it a commitment to oneself and an act of self-acceptance, Kshama wants to marry herself so that she can focus on unconditional self-love.

This brings the importance of self-love to light. Self-love is the practice of loving, nurturing and respecting oneself. When others’ love falls short, the love you have for yourself triumphs over everything else. Let’s take a look at why SELF-LOVE is what people need the most.

3/7

To stop you from comparing with others

There are many people who are much better than you, in many aspects. But this doesn’t mean, you value yourself any less. Stop comparing yourself to others because your capabilities are unique and no one can match those qualities. When you love yourself enough, you will know why you’re enough, and why you don’t need to compete with others.

4/7

To put yourself in the first place

When was the last time you did something for yourself? If you can’t remember, it’s high time you focus on what you need and want. You have to prioritise yourself and look after your needs. It is alright to shun the world for a moment and put yourself in the first place. Loving yourself unconditionally helps you do that.

5/7

To fight harsh criticism and challenges

There are plenty of people standing in line to put you down with their negative energy and harsh words. They will demotivate, discourage and make you feel bad about your body, mind, actions and personality. In such a situation, unless you are on board with your authentic self, you cann;t fight off such challenges. When you love yourself enough, you can do it with ease.

6/7

To maintain healthy relationships with others

Loving yourself strongly is the first step to securing healthy, beautiful relationships with others, be it friendships or a romantic bond. When you are secure and in love with yourself, you unintentionally teach others how to treat, respect and care for you. You set a standard and a strong example that is healthy.

7/7

To boost your confidence and motivate you to achieve more

When you are totally in love with yourself, you feel confidence bursting through your veins. When you suffer from self-esteem issues, you have little or no confidence in yourself, which is otherwise pretty important to achieve your goals, ambitions and dreams. Hence, loving yourself motivates and aspires you to go the extra mile.
