Watch out for these signs

If you feel that your mother-in-law may be trying to make attempts to befriend you then you must watch for these signs and gestures. Right from respecting you to remembering your birthday and picking your gift, all these things are major gestures from her end. In case you have missed them and still think she dislikes you, then keep tabs on these signs.

2/6

She respects your opinion

Many MILs don’t care what you think or have to say and nullify your every word, however, if she respects your opinion this means she is trying to maintain a healthy relationship no matter what the differences are.

3/6

She wants to know you

If your mother-in-law is inquiring about your life, job, interests, hobbies, and career, then this is a sign that she is trying to know you. Since she is coming halfway, reciprocate this and ask her what she likes or dislikes. This may build a lasting friendship together!

4/6

She doesn’t make comparisons

You may have people making more money than you but there are households where there are comparisons, especially with the daughter-in-law. However, if your MIL does nothing like that and instead appreciates your earning your own money, and respects your job, then this is a huge sign that she is trying to build a friendship with you.

5/6

She respects you when you aren't around

Some MILs are like high school bullies: They act sweet to your face, but critique and criticize you the moment you've left the room. If she is not doing that and she confronts you instead, you should be happy because she clearly wants no miscommunication coming between your relationship.

6/6

She understands your boundaries

There's nothing worse than an untimely last-minute visit from your mother-in-law, especially when you're dealing with a busy schedule and a messy house. An admiring mother-in-law won't act intrusive in any way, and you won't have to worry about her "checking in" all the time.
