Signs your mother could be jealous of you
Some boundaries are being crossed over. Your privacy is not being respected as much. She yells at you all the time. All mothers are not like that but then there are some who are in fact jealous of you because they are somewhere very insecure. Here are a few subtle signs that will help you get a better picture.
You are never right
Even if you are, she will find faults in you and criticise you every opportunity she gets. Be it your appearance, how you talk, your likes and dislikes. She is rude to you most of the time and tries to degrade you now and then. This is a sign that your strengths make her feel insecure so she tries to hit you below the belt and focus on your weaknesses.
Finds pleasure in your pain
She is your mother but she seems more like an enemy at times? Does she find some sort of pleasure in your pain? Or even vice-versa? You told her your friend is not coming over and you are sad about it but she sniggers or disregards you and your sentiments and asks you to do some chore she has been putting off? When you got a new job or a promotion at work, she smiled only when you told her your salary (she kept asking)? All these are sadly some indications that you make her insecure. Your success is like her failure and she is certainly jealous of you.
Body shames you
No this should not be coming from your mother! Firstly, no one has the right to make you feel bad about your body and secondly, this is the last thing to expect from your own mother. But this is happening because she is simply getting pleasure out of your pain again. This is a huge sign that your relationship with your mother is extremely unhealthy and you must seek professional help.
You are wrong all the time
Of course you cannot be right all the time but even those 6 out of 10 times you have been told you are wrong in a tone least appreciated. She has raised you and can say that you are wrong but she should also listen to you and understand your point of you. If she dismisses you most of the time, then you know your relationship is toxic.
Control freak & privacy invasion
Does she monitor when you wake up, have your breakfast, see what you do with your time? That is someone who is a control freak and your privacy is probably not respected at all. If she wants to know what was in that delivery package you received, checkout your wardrobes and even tell you what YOU should go where, then it is scary and you need to talk to someone, seek professional help.
