New dating patterns emerge among women in India: Reports
I'm in a cozy café, thoughtfully swiping on a dating app, bathed in warm, ambient light.
Dating in India is not becoming louder or more chaotic, as many once thought. Instead, it is becoming more thoughtful. A recent consumer study by dating app QuackQuack shows that 57% of women are now using new ways to filter matches, protect themselves, and connect with people who suit them better. The habit of endless swiping or matching only for attention is slowly declining. In its place, a more careful and intentional style of dating is taking shape. The online survey included 9,685 active female daters between the ages of 20 and 35, from cities, suburbs and rural areas. The participants came from different work backgrounds, including IT, healthcare, finance, education and entrepreneurship. Commenting on the findings, QuackQuack founder and CEO Ravi Mittal said, “As a dating app, we have several safety checks in place to protect our users, but protecting their feelings or from getting their hearts broken is another thing. This new self-protective dating style among women reflects emotional maturity. Women are not dating to fill a void or meet their checklist. They are dating with the intention of finding peace in love, understanding themselves better, and making room for meaningful connections. Their strategies are more conscious than cautious.”

The study also shows a change in what attracts women on dating apps. Many said they look less at perfect photos and more at emotional tone and honesty in profiles.
Simple, natural pictures and real-life details are preferred.Another growing trend is “soft launching”, where women slowly introduce a partner on social media instead of making sudden announcements. Many also practise “profile shielding” by clearly stating their intentions and boundaries. These steps are helping women reduce mismatched connections and emotional stress, and approach dating with more clarity.
