Being Single: “I realised I wasn't meant to be in a relationship”
Arshia Daulat Singh, 36, a yoga teacher, feels love is “moh-maya” and it is the bond that you make with people that keep you going. We asked her how is life treating her and here is what she shared with us.
Not at all. It is a very human thing. Everyone expects you to have a partner once you are an adult as all have this urge to be able to lean on another and form a life with them. It is okay. There comes a time for every single person when words make no difference. I can say for myself that I am completely over it. This makes me feel more calm and perhaps my profession has led me to this state of mind as well.
Those who know I am a yoga teacher, tend to call me sanyasi and what not because of this silly habit of stereotyping everything. My relatives feel I am wasting my time and life. Many expect me to give up this “nonsense” by getting married. There are so many things so not right with these statements but I stopped caring a while back when I realised my purpose in this lifetime.
I was in a relationship for a few years in my 20s but one fine day, when my place in this life dawned on me, I sat with him and explained what change I am going through. It was painful because the man was (is) a gem but I knew that I was not being fair to him and he deserved someone who wants to be in a relationship and get married. He is now my best friend and very supportive. He got married, has kids and his wife is wonderful, so I am at peace in that matter.
Do whatever you like because it is your life’s path. You may lose people, gain more bonds, so be ready for that.

Myself Dinesh singh age 37 and I am doing job in banking sector. Being single is a little bit off the road from rest of world and that's why it surprised society as to why he/she is not getting married. First thing that came to mind is that might be he is having some problem thats why they are not getting married. 2ndly may be he/she is having a breakup. 3rdly your relatives and family members keeps on insisting you to get married. At some point in your life , you think I should get married. But after 35 you got so much maturity that it seems to be liability to get married. Now a days it become common not to get married mostly in Hindu community.Essence of the matter is that if you are happy at the end of day and don't have regret in life, you are on right track.Read allPost comment
