Are you settling for less than you deserve in your love life? Here are the tell tale signs

Warning signs you are settling for less in life

One of the worst things we can do in our love life is settling for a mediocre relationship and denying ourselves all the love and care we deserve. Sometimes, we cling on to the false notion of ‘this is how a normal relationship feels’ or fail to realise our self-worth, and suffer in a relationship that no longer serves its purpose. In case you have the slightest doubt that you are settling for less than you deserve, here are a few tell-tale signs you need to look for.

2/8

You’re scared of being lonely

You might not like to accept it but deep down you know you are in a relationship just because you do not want to be single and are scared of being lonely. Maybe, you have become used to your partner’s presence in your life and it is not love that is keeping you two glued together.

3/8

You think you can’t find anyone better

You look down on yourself and think no one else would like to date you. You might have inferiority complex, and are not steeping out of the relationship just because you think you won’t find someone better. But here’s the thing! The mere fact your present partner is not the right one for you is the proof that the next one is obviously going to be better!

4/8

You feel guilty

You could have realised this relationship isn’t meant for you but you are staying in it because you do not want to hurt your partner’s feelings. The thought of break up makes you feel guilty and unintentionally, you are duping your partner by faking your happiness.

5/8

Are you the only one compromising?

Your partner treats you like a convenient option (read doormat) and you are the only one who is making all the efforts to keep the relationship afloat. Whether it is your emotional or physical need, you somewhere feel you are compromising at every step in the relationship. Take a deep breath and ask yourself—is all this suffering actually worth it?

6/8

You think your partner will change

You are waiting for a day when your partner would change his or her basic nature. He or she would all of a sudden become more caring, understanding or responsible, and you are willing to endure all the crap till the time this magic happens? You know fairy tales are not real, right?

7/8

The pressure

You are staying in the relationship simply because of your family pressure or because your friends feel he is the best guy for you. You are scared of what others would think about you, and fear being judged. But wait, it is you, and not them, who are in an unfulfilling relationship. So, it is obvious that only you know what brings you happiness and what is the best thing for you.

8/8

Deep down, you are not happy

Maybe, you were in love when you entered the relationship but the status has changed now. Despite trying your best, you are unable to solve the issues in your relationship or one of you has grown out of love. Think for yourself—is it better to feel lonely while being in a relationship or being single and happy?
