When Anil met Tina

Anil Ambani first met Tina Munim at a wedding function. However, it wasn't love at first sight for him, he once mentioned. But what made her stand out from the rest was the colour of her saree, which Anil remembered even long after that incident. Apparently, Tina was wearing a black saree while no one else wore that colour at the function. The duo didn't talk at that event and were complete strangers to each other then.

When Tina refused Anil's date

After the first meeting at the wedding, fate brought Anil and Tina to meet each other again-- this time through common friends in Philadelphia. And this time, Anil instantly asked Tina out on a date. But Tina Munim was a known name in the film industry and she was quite reserved to such advances by men. So, Tina politely declined meeting Anil Ambani on a date.

When fate made them cross paths again

A few months later, Tina and Anil were introduced again to each other-- this time by Tina's nephew who insisted her to meet his friend who was also Gujarati. Just to keep his good name, Tina agreed to meet his friend but she kept on postponing their meeting.

After some time, Tina finally met Anil and the duo were quite impressed with each other on their first date. Recalling their first meeting, Tina Ambani once told Simi Garewal in an interview that she found Anil Ambani to be very humble and traditional. While Anil Ambani revealed in the same interview that he found Tina to be very authentic and real, which is rarely seen in people from the film industry. "The attraction came about only after I met her," he had said in the interview.

Anil and Tina's love Vs family's opposition

Anil and Tina started dating and gradually fell in love with each other. But when Anil's family came to know that he was seeing someone from the film industry, they opposed the match as they had certain notions about people from the fraternity. Anil tried making his family understand, but to no avail. And so, when he told Tina about his family's opposition, she quietly understood and the couple broke-up.

But destiny had other plans for Anil and Tina Ambani

For four years, Anil and Tina were not in touch with each other. During this time, Tina moved to the USA to pursue a course in interior designing to get over the heartbreak, while Anil was adamant that he was in love with Tina and so he kept rejecting other arranged marriage proposals. During this period, once when Anil came to know of a major earthquake in Los Angeles he instantly called up Tina to check if she was okay. However, when she replied that she was okay, he disconnected the call.

Seeing Anil's love for Tina, the Ambani family finally gave in and accepted their match. That's when Anil reconnected with Tina and tried to persuade her to come back to India. But, Tina was a bit apprehensive again, so she kept postponing it. Until one day, when Anil gave her an ultimatum that if she didn't return to India, he wouldn't talk to her ever. And that's when Tina decided to come back to India within a week's time, for the better.

When Anil and Tina Ambani finally tied the knot

When Tina returned to India, she was surprised to see Anil at her doorstep the very next day with a complete wedding plan. Infact, he met her parents with a marriage proposal and finally after passing all the hurdles, Anil and Tina Ambani got married in a traditional Gujarati ceremony on Februray 2, 1991. And the rest, as they say, is history!

After her marriage, Tina Ambani gave up her career in films. The couple have two sons together-- Jai Anmol and Jai Anshul. Jai Anmol is married to Khrisha Shah, while Jai Anshul is the next eligible bachelor in the Ambani khandaan.
