Haridwar, January 15: Patanjali University (UoP), in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) and with the support of the American Institute of Management and Technology (AIMT), Global Knowledge Foundation (GKF), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Dehradun, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), USA, organized a three-day International Conference on “Integration of Smart Technologies in Healthcare and Management” from January 15 to 17 at the Patanjali Research Foundation auditorium.
The conference aimed to promote technology-driven, sustainable healthcare management and encourage global improvements in public health through the integration of smart technologies. The inaugural session began with lamp lighting, Dhanvantari Vandana, and a group musical performance. Revered Acharya Balkrishna warmly welcomed the dignitaries by presenting bouquets, shawls, and mementos. Vice Chancellor Prof. Mayank Kumar Agrawal delivered the welcome address, followed by the release of the conference abstract book.
In his address, Dr. Dev Sharma highlighted the importance of service and public welfare, emphasizing the need for secure and effective healthcare through digital health management, cyber security, and AI-assisted smart medical systems, including personalized treatment selection analysis. Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi, spoke on telemedicine as an emerging discipline and stressed that while artificial intelligence is transforming every aspect of life, ethical considerations remain essential.
He also appreciated Patanjali’s efforts in preserving Indian knowledge systems and Sanatan values.
Revered Acharya Balkrishna underscored the global recognition of Sanatan culture, explaining the concept of “Sahasra Chandra Darshan” as a symbol of longevity, health, and wisdom in Indian tradition. He elaborated on natural farming, harmony with nature, and the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” in the context of globalization. Highlighting the role of the Internet of Things (IoT) in healthcare, he spoke about wearable sensors, connected medical devices, and smart hospital systems enabling efficient data collection and analysis.
Chief Guest Mr. Sachin Chaudhary from BIS emphasized the importance of national standards, quality, and safety in healthcare systems. Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, shared insights on digital health, AI, telemedicine, and the global relevance of Indian culture. Dr. Vedpriya Arya presented an overview of Patanjali’s research and development initiatives, focusing on AI-based applications in agritech, soil testing, and healthcare, reaffirming the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
