The turning point

Being a professional nutritionist, I have always felt that I should first practice what I preach. Before I help my clients lose weight, I should be the one making the right fitness choices. While it wasn’t easy, I had to start somewhere.

3/7

Diet followed

My breakfast: High protein diet with complex carbohydrates (sprouts, poha, paneer stir fry, veg upma, besan chilla)

My lunch: I paid attention to my macros and micros (millet roti with green sabji, one cup dal and half katori rice with one plate salad and curd - in total 500 calories lunch)

My dinner: Light dinner with high protein foods (veg dalia, chole tikki, rakja frankie, tofu sandwich.

Pre-workout meal: Handful nuts

Post- workout meal: Protein smoothie or peanut butter toast

I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): I believe in portion control. I have never skipped any of my favourite foods.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Makhana Chaat, masala soya chunks, cucumber corn salad, corn peanut chaat, apple chaat, carrot fritters, sprouts oats tikki.

4/7

Workout regime

I do cardio, strength training. In addition, I also do zumba and yoga once a week.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: Stay active throughout the day. Apart from your regular exercise, which burns more calories, keep doing something or the other.

5/7

How do I stay motivated?

My PTS and clients keep me motivated. I always feel if I'm not in my best shape, I can preach to them.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?: You need to build consistency and develop a love towards your fitness routine. Only then will you be able to stay focused.

6/7

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?

A lot of things - You are mocked, acceptance is less in the society. Apart from emotional trauma, there are a lot of physical problems, for instance lifestyle disorders, nutritional deficiencies.

What was the lowest point for you?: There were times when I was unable to give my best due to other responsibilities but overcoming them gave me strength.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?: In a better shape, more fitter.

7/7

What are the lifestyle changes you made?

I learnt to say "NO" to junk foods. Don’t shy away from saying no to people. Make regular workout a part of your routine. Eat fruits, veggies and most importantly, stay happy.

Lessons learnt from weight loss:

1) Be consistent

2) Be happy with your journey

3) Lose weight the right way

4) Lifestyle change is important
