How this 34-year-old lost 50 kilos!
Dhruva Lingappa weighed a staggering 120 kilos that really affected his confidence and self-esteem. But it was only when he could not find his size of clothes that he decided to do something about it. With proper diet changes and regular workout routine, he went on to lose 50 kgs. Here’s a look at his journey.

Duration it took me to lose weight: Entire Weight Loss journey took about 4 years since I was completely without assistance (No Trainer, Nutritionist, Coach) & due to inconsistency in my workout.
The turning point
I had to attend a function, where I was required to wear a formal blazer. When I went to buy one, the shopkeeper made fun of me by saying that they did not have anything in my size and that the blazer would have to be specially stitched. That’s when I decided to lose weight.
Diet followed
My breakfast: Big sized Idli + Mutton Kheema Or Chicken fry ( non veg), Overnight soaked oats (veg)
My lunch: Roti, Rice, Egg, ( Chicken or Mutton dish)
My dinner: 2 tandoori roti, 1 cup each of Veg, Chana Masala, Dal, Pulav, Curd Rice.
Pre-workout meal: Protein Shake 20 grams
Post- workout meal: Protein Shake 20 grams
I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): I'm a proper foodie - I have cheated practically on every meal.
Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Sprouts Salad
Workout regime
My workout consisted of 70% strength training and 30% cardio. I also indulged in Ashtanga Vinyasa - Half Primary Series 3 times weekly, 60-75 minutes per session.
How do I stay motivated?
I saw the results as soon as I started. Lost 8 kgs in the first 8 weeks itself. Once you see the results, it becomes an addiction.
How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?: I was sick and tired of being overweight, so I made sure not to lose my focus.
What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?
The most difficult part of being overweight was when I was judged by people.
What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?: Not fat for sure.
What are the lifestyle changes you made?
I stopped drinking alcohol and became a pure vegetarian.
Lessons learnt from weight loss: It's easy if you educate yourself about what needs to be done. Helps if you have guidance, support, motivation from someone who has gone through a similar journey.
