How this 20-year-old lost weight in 6 months

20-year-old Fukran was subjected to shaming and constant trolling and was once told that he'll never be able to lose weight. He took all the criticism in his stride and emerged a stronger, fitter person.

From once being the centre of jokes, he now is an inspiration for his peers and friends. His weight loss story is super inspiring! Read!

Name: Fukran

Occupation: Student

Age: 20

Height: 5 feet 9 inches

State: Kashmir

Highest weight recorded: 109 kilos

Weight lost: 41 kilos

Duration it took me to lose weight: 6 months

2/8

What was your turning point?

I was constantly mocked and teased about my appearance. I became hesitant about stepping out of my house and slowly, my weight drove me into depression.

This was the time I really became focused on transforming myself. I even joined a gym, but for the first two weeks, I didn't see much of a difference since I was still heavily relying on poor eating habits and majorly had fast food. Then, I began to follow a proper diet with moderated portions and lost weight fast.

3/8

Diet

I start my day by having a glass of warm water with a spoon of apple cider vinegar mixed in it.

For my breakfast, I would have 4 egg whites, 30 grams of ground oats with 200 ml milk.

My lunch: Loaded with proteins, usually chicken breast (150 grams) made in 2 tablespoons of olive oil with some brown rice and a side of veggies.

My dinner: I didn't really have dinner but ensured that I have a combination of big and small meals throughout the day. For example, I would include a lot of salads and a big bowl of curd topped with nuts and seeds.

Pre-workout meal: Before heading for my workout I usually had a cup of black coffee/ a bowl of watermelon/ brown bread slice with peanut butter which was very important for hard intensive training sessions.

Post-workout meal: After completing my workout I would opt for natural proteins from egg whites, which aids muscle repair and recovery.

I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): I didn’t cheat for the first two months.

Later, I started to go for a cheat meal once a week, which I feel is also important to boost your BMR levels to lose weight more effectively.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Grilled chicken, rolled oats recipes.

4/8

Workout and fitness regime

My workout includes forty minutes of cardio including cycling, treadmill and cross treadmill. Then I go for forty minutes of weight training.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: Having 5-6 meals a day is much better than opting for 3 meals a day. Even if you do follow the latter approach, make sure to include some form of protein in the day, with every meal.

5/8

How do you stay motivated?

To stay motivated, I always weigh myself every 12 days. Seeing a reduction in my weight gives me a big boost to lose more weight and keeps me pepped up.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? I have a large friend circle now and my duty is to help others get fitter. It’s a big change from before, and it also ensures that I do my best to remain fit.

6/8

What's the most difficult part of being overweight?

The most difficult part of being overweight is facing criticism and judgment. There was a time one of my friends said that despite all the jokes, I didn’t have it in me to lose weight. I am glad to have proved them wrong.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? Fitter, stronger and wiser.

7/8

What lifestyle changes did you make?

I started practising portion control and included whole, protein-rich foods in my diet.

What was the lowest point for you? Being joked around because of the way I look was really upsetting and impacted my self-confidence levels.

8/8

Lessons learnt from weight loss

I believe now that there is nothing a person cant do it’s your time, either you can keep making excuses or work hard. Believe in yourself and with consistency and discipline, you can achieve everything in life.
