From at-home workouts to healthier diets, 2020 has been solely dedicated to health, and it applies to celebrities too. A lot of celebrities found good time to work on themselves and transform their bodies, some of which have left us stunned.

Lo and behold, we present to you some of the best transformations and weight loss stories from Bollywood and Hollywood. Weight watchers, take notes!

Adele

Singer and multiple award winner celebrity, Adele sent shockwaves over the internet in 2020 with her dramatic weight loss transformation, losing 22 kilos. The transformation also made her coin a famous Instagram caption- "I used to cry but now I sweat". The secret behind her dazzling figure? Sirtfood diet! Even more buzzing than Adele's weight loss has been the unique and catchy diet plan she followed to lose weight. Adele followed the famous 'sirtfood diet', which makes use of 'sirtfoods', some special foods which work by activating certain protein chains in the body, known as sirtuins. According to science, these antioxidant agents act as protectants that help slow down ageing, boost metabolism and regulate the body's inflammation, hereby helping in fat loss. Some common foods allowed in this plan include foods like oranges, dark chocolates, parsley, turmeric, kale, and even red wine. In fact, studies say that following the now-famous Sirtfood diet can help one lose upto 3 kilos in a week. Ganesh Acharya

As someone who once weighed 200 kilos, choreographer and dancer, Ganesh Acharya's stunning weight loss transformation has grabbed eyeballs. In an appearance on Kapil Sharma's show, the ace choreographer shed light on his transformation, adding that he has dropped a whopping 98 kilos. From pictures that have surfaced on the internet, his transformation is super impressive.

It's not the first time he has openly talked about his weight loss. Acharya, who has been training under celeb fitness coach, Ajay Naidu has been toiling hard to make a difference in his health and get fitter. In an interview, he spoke,

“It took me 15 days to learn how to float. Slowly, my trainer Ajay Naidu made me do crunches in water. Now, I can execute 11 exercises (like scissors and lateral raises etc.) in succession over a 75-minute routine. It’s exhausting,”

The choreographer also added that while he was still able to perform and dance with the extra weight, he now has a lot more energy, enthusiasm and zero knee pain. His story is definitely an example of how the right diet, workout, determination and commitment can move mountains.

Rebel Wilson

Terming 2020 as the 'year of good health', Rebel Wilson left one and all amazed with her dramatic 18-kilo transformation during the global lockdown. At a time when 'quarantine weight gain' memes were floating on the internet, Rebel worked on her body and emerged in a fresher and fitter avatar. Her before and after pictures are poles apart!

Rebel, who let out a statement saying that she was paid to look "bigger" and comical in films suffered from years of work stress and emotional eating, which made her pile on the kilos quickly. The actress also admitted that she made it a point to make use of her at-home time to get fitter for better. She trained under fitness trainer Jono Castano Acera, followed a combination of workout regimes like HIIT, walking, resistance training for six days a week, apart from bouts of circuit training.

Diet-wise, Rebel experimented with a detox plan referred to as the Mayr Method, which has its root in traditional philosophy and preaches the value of mindful eating. Mayr Method experts believe that the key to good health and ideal weight loss is through a good, clean diet. For beginners following the diet, Mayr diet works by cleaning the body of impending toxins. Participants also go on a no-caffeine, sugar-free detox for 14 days, avoid snacking and instead, are encouraged to prep for their own meals. The rules of the diet are also similar to the Alkaline Diet, which includes having some serving of proteins, grains, nuts and seeds, vegetables (spinach, sprouts, onions, broccoli), seasonal fruits, green tea, refreshing fruit drinks such as pomegranate juice. Condiments, soup broth, coconut oil and apple cider vinegar are also recommended.

Arshad Warsi

Even though Arshad Warsi's weight loss might not be super dramatic, nonetheless, the actor managed to drop weight and look fitter than ever. The actor used the lockdown to begin his weight loss journey, wherein he combined the benefits of two successful fat-loss aiding diets, Keto and Intermittent Fasting.

"Was on a very strict diet for one month. Zero Carbs, Intermittent, Cardio & weight training, knock off 6 kgs in 30 days, got 4 more to go. This morning I had carbs, AND OMG ITS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD. Now I have to find another way to get fit Man facepalming"

Arshad went on a strict month-long diet, worked up an exercise regime which suited his needs and saw good results. He spent intensive hours coming up with unique cardio workouts on the treadmill.

Keto and Intermittent Fasting can be adopted together to achieve better results. When you follow Keto rules while fasting, you restrict the carb intake in your diet, while regulating your protein and fat intake, which make you feel fuller for longer and make the fasting window a little less worrisome. Another benefit is increased fat loss. Because intermittent fasting boosts metabolism by promoting thermogenesis, or heat production, the body may start utilizing stubborn fat stores. However, do remember that it is not fully sustainable in the long-run.

Fardeen Khan

Last but not least on our list is Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan. Rumoured to make his comeback in films soon, Fardeen’s image has gone for an interesting overhaul in the past few years. While sometime back, photos of a bulky, heavier looking Fardeen surfaced on the internet, many couldn’t believe it. Now, he has taken fans by a surprise yet again after losing tremendous weight and transforming his looks.

In an interview with Etimes, Fardeen also opened up about his weight loss and the reason he did so:

“I wanted to physically feel 25. As you grow older, body degeneration catches up with you. I wanted to feel very, very good again. You need to think about it as a body-mind connection. I came across this in some reading I was doing. I started eating right and healthy coupled with correct workouts. I have lost 18 kg in the last six months, but 35 per cent journey is yet to go in this aspect.

Nonetheless, his pictures are super inspiring and the tips can come in handy for anyone looking to lose a couple of inches, or fight obesity!
