White tea is better for WEIGHT LOSS than green tea! Have you tried it yet?

With more than half the population going crazy about weight loss, what keeps changing are the new methods to lose weight. Talking about the new weight loss trends, what comes latest in the list is - white tea. Yes, white tea is the new best friend for weight loss. While a balanced diet and exercise go without saying, there are other things that can help you fight the battle easily. And white tea has lately topped r in this chart of allies.

But is white tea better than green tea for weight loss? Yes, may be. Though white tea and green tea are extracted from the same tea plant but white tea leaves are harvested when they are tender. So, unlike green tea, white tea involves less processing and thus, retains more antioxidants which are ultimately helpful in losing weight. So, here we tell you what is white tea and how it is better than green tea for weight loss.

2/7

What is white tea?

WHAT IS WHITE TEA? White tea comes from Camellia Sinensis and is harvested even before the tea leaves are fully open. The young buds are still covered with delicate white hair and that is why it is called white tea. White tea is minimally processed and that is why it comes in the most delicate tea varieties. Below are the reasons how white tea helps in weight loss.

3/7

White tea prevents the formation of new fat cells

WHITE TEA PREVENTS THE FORMATION OF NEW FAT CELLS: Fat is formed when we eat more food than what our body requires and then the unused part is stored in our body in the form of fat, which we can use later as a form of energy. Preadipocyte cells are converted into fat cells by our body but when treated by white tea extracts, the formation of new fat cells is inhibited. In simple terms, white tea extracts are capable of preventing the formation of new fat cells.

Reduces calorie absorption

REDUCES CALRIE ABSORPTION: The polyphenol called Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) present in white tea can hamper calorie absorption. A study conducted on mice where a few mice were fed with high-fat food and were given this polyphenol saw that this polyphenol hindered the accumulation of body fat and resulted in more calories being excreted through their stool.

5/7

It breaks down fat

IT BREAKS DOWN FAT: To release energy, our body breaks down or oxidises fat. Oxidation of fat is related to weight gain. People who are fat have low fat oxidation and people who are lean have higher fat oxidation. Caffeine present in white tea can stimulate fat oxidation in our body by activating the central nervous system. White tea breaks down the fat from mature fat cells.

6/7

Boosts metabolism

BOOSTS METABOLISM: The rate at which your body burns calories is called metabolic rate. So, the faster the metabolism is, the faster you burn calories. When you are dieting or starving, your body responds by slowing down your metabolism which leads to slow calorie burn. White tea can counter the decrease in metabolic rate by increasing the rate at which calories are burnt.

7/7

White tea versus green tea

WHITE TEA VERSUS GREEN TEA: Both white tea and green tea come from the same tea plant, Camellia Sinensis. The only difference is that white tea leaves are harvested at much younger age than green tea leaves. White tea leaves are expensive and rare as they can be picked only during the early spring and are supposed to be handled with extra care.

Green tea is slightly more processed than white tea and that is the reason white tea has the same antioxidants as green tea but in greater quantity. So, less caffeine and more antioxidants make white tea a little better but people choose green tea more as it is extensively studied and is cheap and easily available.
