Quick fix cinnamon tea

For all the times you dream of having a soothing and sweet drink before going to bed, this cinnamon tea can come to your rescue without adding to your waistline. Apart from compensating for the sugar, cinnamon is also loaded with many other benefits which can help in weight loss. It is loaded with antioxidants and has inflammation-reducing properties, which have been linked to obesity and weight gain.

Cinnamon also contains the satiety hormone, which makes you feel full and even reduces the cravings and hunger pangs, controlling your diet in the long run. There is also the hidden benefit which lies in its aroma. Cinnamon contains the chemical, cinnamaldehyde which when comes in contact with cells boosts the metabolism rate. Thus, cinnamon, used in any form forces the fat cells in the body to keep on burning even when the body stays inactive, which can help a great day in fighting obesity.

It also contains helpful antioxidant and antibacterial properties which are good for the body.

How to make it:

To make this soothing drink, boil a cup of water in a saucepan. To this, add a spoonful of cinnamon powder (or the root) and let the drink steep. Once the water boils simmers down, strain and transfer to a cup. You can add honey if the smell of cinnamon overpowers you. For best benefits, have this drink 20-30 minutes before bedtime for 15 days time.

Cucumber-parsley smoothie

Cucumber and parsley are summer essentials which contain a lot of hydrating content in them. On days when you feel bloated or don't feel like eating anything loaded, this humble cucumber-parsley juice can detox your system and give your metabolism a much-needed boost. When consumed regularly, this drink can also speed up fat burning. While cucumbers contain fairly low calories and even lower fat content (only 0.35 grams), they are also rich in nutrients like like vitamin A, B and K, apart from a high folate value. Parsley, a herb works as a natural diuretic which can help to flush away toxins and excess fluid, apart from maintaining blood sugar balance and digestion.

How to make it:

Dice one cucumber into fine pieces. In a blender or a mixie, add the diced pieces along with a few sprigs of parsley. Blend them well and puree it into a fine smoothie-like consistency. You can also add half a grated ginger and lemon juice to add to the taste.

Methi seeds or fenugreek seeds are a powerhouse of nutrients which you can find in your kitchen. They are amazing to improve your digestion and promote fat burning. They contain powerful functional compounds that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. Having a glass of methi water any time of the day can recharge the body's immunity and boost its functioning. It is one of the easiest ways you can detox naturally!

How to make it:

Boil a cup of water and once you start to see the bubbles, add a teaspoon or two of methi seeds to it. You will start to see the colour of the seeds start to pale. Once done, strain the drink well and sip on it. Jaggery powder can be mixed in the drink to add to the taste but is an optional choice.
