Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's mother dies due to pneumonia: All about the disease
Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's mother, Madhavi Raje has succumbed to pneumonia on Wednesday. She was undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi and had been on a ventilator in her last few days.
She was suffering from pneumonia and sepsis.
“With great sorrow, they wish to share that Rajmata is no more. Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's mother and the Rajmata of the Gwalior royal family, Rajmata Madhavi Raje Scindia, had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi for the past two months. Her condition had been extremely critical for the past two weeks. This morning at 9:28am, she took her last breath at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. Om Shanti,” a press statement said.
The Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia is seeking a fresh term in the Lok Sabha from Guna in Madhya Pradesh.
Pneumonia and sepsis are severe medical conditions that can be life-threatening if not promptly treated. Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs, which may fill with fluid or pus, causing symptoms like cough, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi.
Sepsis, on the other hand, is a potentially deadly response to an infection, where the body’s immune system releases chemicals into the bloodstream to fight the infection but causes widespread inflammation. This can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death.
The connection between pneumonia and sepsis is significant because pneumonia is one of the leading causes of sepsis. When the infection from pneumonia enters the bloodstream, it can trigger a systemic inflammatory response, leading to sepsis. Symptoms of sepsis include fever, increased heart rate, rapid breathing, confusion, and severe pain or discomfort.
Antibiotics are commonly used to treat bacterial pneumonia and sepsis, while supportive care, including fluids and oxygen, is essential to manage symptoms and prevent complications. Vaccination and good hygiene practices can help reduce the risk of pneumonia, subsequently lowering the risk of sepsis.
