What’s the fuss around menstrual products?

There are numerous menstrual hygiene products available in the market and the menstrual cup is the most sustainable and eco-friendly method because it is reusable. However, beginners may encounter minor difficulties when using a period cup because it takes little time to get used to. Therefore, they are advised to stick to sanitary pads. Tampons are great for outdoor activities and swimming alike. You can also swim, exercise, and stretch freely while wearing a menstrual cup. As well as, a menstrual cup is an economical choice for menstruators as one can use a single unit of it for a minimum of 5 years.

Sanitary Pads

Available widely, sanitary pads are simple to use even for girls experiencing initial menstruation. One can find pads made from high-quality raw materials easily in the market. This contributes to a rash-free experience for women. However, their contribution to pollution is a subject of debate.

Period Panties

Period panties are a new addition to menstrual hygiene products. It gives you 360 degree coverage and fits like a regular panty that gives you the utmost comfort. You can run, exercise, and do yoga without any worries. They’re perfect for women with PCOS and heavy bleeding days.

Pantyliners

If we talk about pantyliners, they play an important role in daily intimate hygiene. They are also useful during spotting days of periods. Furthermore, hygiene brands are consciously working on making pads, period panties and pantyliners more eco-friendly.

Menstrual Cups

In developing countries like India, the menstrual cup has gained popularity recently, whereas pads have been around for much longer than that. Specifically, the pad was the first product designed to help menstruators, so you can imagine their familiarity with it. But, I believe that in the future, there will be a significant shift from pads to period cups. The younger generation is eager to try period cups because they are a safe, economical and eco-friendly alternative to pads.

The last word

Monica Bindra, Founder & CEO of Laiqa says, “I would suggest menstruators choose as per their comfort. Generally one won’t go wrong with any good quality hygiene products, as all of them are effective methods to ease periods. But, at the same time, we are becoming more responsible towards the environment and choosing an eco-conscious product would be my suggestion. Also, as the world is evolving technologically and innovating new period products, we are going to witness many innovative, well-thought-out products in the coming years.”
