Lawyer and former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation diagnosed with Parkinson's disease

Robert Mueller has been battling Parkinson’s disease for four years, his family has revealed as per multiple reports including NY Times, DailyBeast. The family revealed on Sunday that the 81-year-old had actually been diagnosed with the degenerative neurological disorder in the summer of 2021. The revelation came just after House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer subpoenaed Mueller to testify in an inquiry into Jeffrey Epstein.

Who is Robert Mueller?

Robert Mueller isn’t the flashy, headline-chasing type—you probably know him best as the no-nonsense former Special Counsel who led the Trump–Russia investigation. Before that, he was FBI Director from 2001 to 2013, steering the bureau through 9/11 and its aftermath. Known for his stiff, by-the-book style, Mueller built a reputation as the straightest of straight arrows in Washington. Recently, at 81, his family revealed he’s been living with Parkinson’s disease since 2021, which explains his quiet step back from public life. Love him or not, Mueller’s career has been about service, grit, and doing the hard jobs.

What is Parkinson's disease?

Parkinson’s disease is one of those conditions most of us have heard of but don’t really understand until it touches our own family. In simple terms, it’s a brain disorder that mainly affects movement. It happens when the nerve cells in the brain that produce dopamine—the “feel-good” chemical—start dying off. Without enough dopamine, everyday actions like walking, writing, or even speaking can get harder over time.

Symptoms of Parkinson's disease

Parkinson’s usually sneaks up slowly, and early signs can be easy to brush off. The most common symptoms include:

Tremors: that classic hand or finger shaking, often starting on one side.
Stiffness: muscles that feel tight or heavy.
Slowness of movement (bradykinesia): taking longer to do simple tasks.
Balance problems: leading to unsteady walking or frequent falls.
Speech changes: a softer or monotone voice.
Everyone’s journey looks different—some may deal mostly with tremors, while others notice balance or speech issues first.

Can it be prevented?

There’s no surefire way to stop Parkinson’s, but research shows some lifestyle choices might lower your risk or delay onset:

Stay active: regular exercise like walking, cycling, or even dancing keeps the brain and body sharp.

Eat smart: diets rich in fruits, veggies, omega-3s, and less processed junk may help brain health.

Protect your head: repeated head injuries are linked to higher risk.

Caffeine and green tea: oddly enough, studies suggest these may have a protective effect.

I was around 58 when my thumb started giving me problems. As time passed, I had other symptoms: hand tremors, restless sleep, muscle weakness, cognitive decline, voice spasms, and a stiff, achy right arm and ankle. At 60 I was diagnosed with PARKINSON’S DISEASE. I was on Carbidopa and Pramipexole for two years; they helped a lot but not for long. As the disease progressed, my symptoms worsened. With my neurologist's guidance, I started on PD-5 treatment from U.H.C. (Uinehealth Centre). The treatment worked very effectively; my severe symptoms, especially the tremors, simply vanished. I feel better now than I have ever felt, and I can feel my strength again. Visit Uinehealthcentre. net. My neurologist was very open when looking at alternative medicines and procedures; this PD-5 treatment is a breakthrough.
