Practicing yoga, you can cure chronic digestion issues naturally

Digestive issues are common, especially after meals. Incorporating gentle yoga asanas into your post-meal routine can aid digestion and promote overall well-being. These simple poses can help stimulate digestion, relieve bloating, and enhance relaxation. Yoga, with its gentle movements and mindful breathing, offers a holistic approach to improving digestion.

How does yoga help in digestion?

Poses like twists stimulate the abdominal organs, enhancing digestion by massaging them and encouraging the release of trapped gases. Forward bends help compress the abdomen, aiding in the elimination of waste and toxins. Additionally, the relaxation achieved through yoga practice reduces stress, which is known to negatively impact digestion. Incorporating yoga into one's routine can promote regular bowel movements, alleviate bloating, and cultivate a deeper connection between the mind and body, fostering overall digestive health and well-being. Here are seven gentle yoga asanas and instructions on performing them.

8 ways to get relief from headaches without pain killers

3/9

Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana)

Sit on the floor with your legs extended in front of you.

Inhale as you lengthen your spine, then exhale as you hinge at your hips and fold forward.

Reach for your feet or shins, keeping your spine long and your neck relaxed.

Hold the position for 30-60 seconds, breathing deeply.

Slowly release the pose on an inhale.

4/9

Child's Pose (Balasana)

Kneel on the floor with your big toes touching and knees spread apart.

Lower your torso between your thighs and extend your arms in front of you.

Rest your forehead on the mat and relax your entire body.

Breathe deeply into your belly, feeling the stretch along your spine.

Remain in this position for 1-3 minutes, focusing on deep, rhythmic breathing.

5/9

Cat-Cow Stretch (Marjaryasana-Bitilasana)

Start on your hands and knees in a tabletop position, with wrists aligned under shoulders and knees under hips.

Inhale as you arch your back, dropping your belly towards the floor and lifting your gaze towards the ceiling (Cow Pose).

Exhale as you round your spine, tucking your chin to your chest and drawing your belly button towards your spine (Cat Pose).

Flow between Cat and Cow Pose for 5-10 breaths, syncing movement with breath.

6/9

Supine Twist (Supta Matsyendrasana)

Lie on your back with arms extended to the sides in a T position.

Bend your knees and draw them towards your chest.

Lower both knees to the right side, keeping your shoulders grounded.

Turn your head to the left and gaze towards your left hand.

Hold the twist for 30 seconds to 1 minute, focusing on deep belly breaths.

Repeat on the opposite side.

7/9

Wind-Relieving Pose (Pavanamuktasana)

Lie on your back with legs extended and arms by your sides.

Exhale as you bend your right knee towards your chest, clasping your hands around your shin.

Keep your left leg extended or bend the knee and place the foot on the floor.

Hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute, breathing deeply into your belly.

Release and switch sides.

8/9

Bridge Pose (Setu Bandhasana)

Lie on your back with knees bent and feet hip-width apart, heels close to your glutes.

Press into your feet and lift your hips towards the ceiling, engaging your glutes and thighs.

Interlace your hands beneath your lower back and press your arms into the mat for support.

Hold the pose for 30 seconds to 1 minute, breathing deeply.

Slowly lower your hips back down to the mat on an exhale.

9/9

Corpse Pose (Savasana)

Lie flat on your back with legs extended and arms by your sides, palms facing up.

Close your eyes and allow your body to fully relax into the mat.

Focus on your breath, letting go of any tension with each exhale.

Remain in Savasana for 5-10 minutes, allowing your body to rest and digest.
