Two common signs of long COVID

As per a new study carried out by the researchers at the University of Cambridge, memory problems and lack of concentration are two common symptoms detected in about 70 per cent of cases of the long COVID. The detailed study revealed that about one out of every ten COVID-19 patients suffers from some of the other neurological issues following the months after the initial infections.

Based on the data collected by the team of researchers, people suffering from these two prime symptoms long after the initial infection often struggle to attempt cognitive exams. 75 per cent of the people who suffered from neurological issues after the COVID-19 infection said they had difficulty focusing on their work. Understanding long COVID-19

Once infected with any variant of the coronavirus, in most cases the symptoms start declining after the initial 15 days. Only in the case of a severe infection, a person may experience the symptoms for few weeks or may need hospitalisation for treatment. It mostly happens in the case of high viral load and underlying health conditions. But any signs of COVID-19 infection that appear 90 days after the disappearance of the initial infection are referred to as long COVID. There is a wide range of symptoms one may experience, memory issues and lack of concentration are just two of them.

What should do you do

Coronavirus and its variants affect our organs in more than one way. Indeed the virus multiplies in our respiratory system and majorly impacts the lungs, but it can also travel to other organs and can damage them. This makes it essential to take extra care even after the initial symptoms. If you notice any signs of the long COVID after, it is best to contact your doctor and take proper treatment. In some cases, long COVID can also lead to blood clotting, organ failure, depression and insomnia.
