COVID-19 vaccination: Scared to get vaccinated? Common vaccine-related myths addressed

Getting the maximum population vaccinated in the country is the best way to keep everyone safe from the deadly coronavirus. While there is a shortage of vaccines, people are also sceptical about whether to get jabbed or not. Right now, the vaccine is being administered to people who are above 18 years of age and the two vaccines available are Covidshield and Covaxin.

Here are some of the most common vaccine-related fears among people.

A video got viral on social media where a French virologist and Nobel Prize Winner Luc Montagnier was quoted saying that all the people who got vaccinated for coronavirus will die in two years.

The video was fact-checked and turned out to be fake. As per the Union Health Ministry, vaccines cannot cause death and any such claims are false.

Getting vaccinated will not cause COVID infection. In fact, vaccines make neutralizing antibodies in the body, which prevents infection from happening. So, even if someone catches an infection after getting jabbed, the antibodies will fight and help the patient recover.

There are around 73,000 vaccination centres in the country. The administration is responsible for giving vaccines at the centre. The health department is also taking care of it. There cannot be any other medicine in the vaccine vial.

The side effects of vaccines have been observed in a few people. But these side effects do not last long. Common side effects include fever, body ache and soreness at the injection site. Vaccination cannot cause any serious complications.

There is no evidence to support this fact. It's just a rumour that is circulating and should not be paid attention to.

In India, people get 15 vaccines by the age of 16. COVID-19 vaccine is not the first vaccine being administered. Thus, there is nothing to fear about.
