Is your Pancreas slowing you down? 5 hidden signs that can't be ignored

The pancreas is a small vital organ, which performs essential functions in digestion and blood sugar management. The organ shows distress through specific warning signs, when it becomes slow or develops functional problems. Early detection of these warning signs helps prevent pancreatitis, diabetes and pancreatic cancer from developing. Here are 5 signs that your pancreas is sluggish and what to do about it...

2/7

Upper abdominal pain

One of the most common signs of pancreatic issues involves ongoing upper abdominal discomfort that spreads toward the back. The discomfort becomes worse after consuming food, especially fatty foods, but becomes less intense when you bend forward or make a curled position. The pancreas inflammation, together with stress causes nerve irritation in surrounding areas. The two forms of pancreatitis which include sudden and long-term cases, produce this type of pain. Medical evaluation becomes necessary when you experience persistent or severe pain that continues for multiple days, because it threatens your pancreas and body health.

The pancreas requires protection from fatty and processed foods which create additional work for this organ. The organ experiences less strain when you eat smaller portions, throughout the day.

3/7

Digestive problems

A pancreas that functions poorly, fails to generate sufficient digestive enzymes which results in inadequate food breakdown. The symptoms of poor digestion include regular nausea, vomiting and unexplained bloating and persistent fullness, even after eating small portions. The condition known as steatorrhea, produces oily floating pale stools because the body fails to absorb fats properly. The body fails to break down fats correctly because enzyme activity remains low. The prolonged condition results in vitamin A, D, E and K deficiencies which produce additional health complications.

You should eat pineapple or papaya for their enzyme content, while taking enzyme supplements under doctor supervision. A diet consisting of fruits, vegetables and high fiber content, helps digestion while minimising pancreas strain.

4/7

Unexplained weight loss

The pancreas failure to function properly, results in poor nutrient absorption which causes weight loss even when you do not diet. The body fails to extract sufficient nutrients from food, because digestion becomes impaired. The combination of malnutrition symptoms includes decreased hunger, and persistent fatigue and weakness. The presence of this symptom requires immediate medical evaluation, because it might signal pancreatic disease or pancreatic cancer development.

You should consume smoothies with protein and vitamins, as well as other nutrient-rich foods that are simple to digest. Eating small portions at regular times, helps your body maintain its energy supply. Medical evaluation becomes necessary when you experience unexplained weight loss.

5/7

Changes in blood sugar levels

The pancreas generates insulin which functions to control blood sugar levels. Blood sugar problems emerge when the pancreas fails to work properly, which results in symptoms including increased thirst. urination, fatigue and vision problems. The development of new diabetes in people without diabetes history, might result from pancreatic inflammation or damage.

A diet containing minimal amounts of sugary foods and refined carbohydrates should be your main focus. Exercise and stress management techniques help people control their blood sugar levels. The management and prevention of diabetes, require patients to check their blood sugar levels, and work with healthcare providers.

6/7

Fatigue and mental fog

The pancreas shows signs of trouble through ongoing fatigue, and mental confusion. The body experiences persistent fatigue because it lacks essential energy sources that result from impaired digestion, and nutrient absorption. The inflammation from pancreatic diseases creates widespread health problems that make it difficult to focus and remember things. Your body uses fatigue as a warning sign to indicate internal problems, which need medical attention. To counter this, improve your diet through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory foods, such as leafy greens and berries and nuts. People should practice good sleep habits, and reduce stress through yoga or meditation.
