There yoga asanas are tricky

Yoga has always been considered as a gentle and low-impact exercise, offering a plethora of health benefits. It is a powerful activity that reduces stress, promotes relaxation and enhances flexibility. But like any other workout, it is important to maintain the right form and body posture to gain maximum health benefits and avoid injury. The same rule applies when it comes to yoga. There are some yoga poses that need extra precision and patience. Even a slight mistake can cause injury and strain your muscles. Here are 5 most risky yoga poses of all.

Headstand (Salamba Sirsasana)

Headstand is not only the toughest yoga pose, but is also quite risky. Placing your entire body weight on the neck can cause neck injury and strain. It is worst for people with a sensitive neck and may aggravate their pre-existing pain in the spine, if your alignment is not right. You may fall and hurt yourself if you fail to maintain the balance of your body. For your own safety, perform this exercise near the wall.

Shoulder stand (Salamba Sarvangasana)

Being careless while getting into Salamba Sarvangasana can trouble your spine and neck. This is an unstable pose and our body is not familiar with getting into such positions. Beginners should strictly avoid doing this yoga pose. In many yoga classes, trainers do not even teach this pose due to their complexity.

Four-Limbed Staff Pose (Chaturanga Dandasana)

This pose might look harmless but is way too complicated and tricky than you can imagine. Getting into this pose can be extremely dangerous for your rotator cuff if not performed with utmost precision. The adversity is amplified when this pose is repeatedly done in an incorrect way. To avoid making any mistake, make sure your shoulders are properly aligned and fix your gaze to the horizon.

Standing Forward Bend (Uttanasana)

In Uttanasana, you have to stretch your hamstrings to bend down. There is always a high chance of over-stretching your hamstring while performing such yoga poses. If you do not bend your torso correctly, you might strain your muscles. Do not push your limit while performing this exercise as hamstring injury takes time to heal.

Reclining Hero's Pose (Supta Virasana)

Supta Virasana or Reclining Hero pose is excellent for opening your hips and front legs. But people suffering from knee and ankle injury should avoid this yoga pose. For your safety, use a soft blanket instead to of yoga mat.
