Gym safety should be the top priority for every gym owner. It's crucial to create an environment where fitness enthusiasts visiting the gym can comfortably pursue their fitness goals without fear of injury or harm. Here are some important precautions owners should follow at the gym and members should ensure are being followed in the gym they workout at:

Exercise machine maintenance and safety tips

All exercise machines should be inspected on a regular basis. An exercise machine that malfunctions can pose a life-threatening threat to member safety. It is important to check for frayed cables, loose cables, damage, and pending failures on all machines. Owners should make sure service records are updated to reflect the dates of inspection. There should also be no water around the electric equipment – rainwater leaking from the ceiling, water leaking from the AC vent or water from cleaning the gym floor.

Clear and clean entry mats

It is important to place clear and clean entry mats to reduce slips and fall hazards in fitness centers. Moisture and debris from outside can create a slick and hazardous environment, not safe for gym members.

Maintain safety in locker room

The locker room can potentially cause plenty of harm to members. One can catch infectious germs, slip from pooling of water or there could be a threat of fire. Make sure the gym's shower facilities should have adequate drainage.

6/6

Exercise and weight equipment safety

The use of weights and exercise machines can cause numerous injuries. While working out, people should ensure they are at a good distance from others lifting weights around them. It is also important to put your weights back after using so that no one else gets hurt. Members should lift heavy weights under the supervision of a trainer.
