The five best diets for your poop

What you eat has a direct impact on what you push out, which can make trying a new diet feel like a gamble for your gut. Some diets are so bad for your gut that they may leave you unable to poop for days or even worse, rush to the toilet every five minutes.

So, if you too worried about your poop and bowel movements, here is the list of five best diet plans for you:

2/7

Mediterranean diet

Of all the diets, Mediterranean diet is one of the best diets for your bowel movements. The diet focuses on eating whole foods, which are great for our gut and digestion.

The diet includes veggies, fruits, whole grains, seeds, nuts, legumes and more. The fibre from all these foods is like a strength training workout for the muscles of the gastrointestinal tract leading to regular and healthy bowel movements.

3/7

Paleo diet

How paleo diet will affect your poop depends on what your diet was like before you went on this diet plan. When you increase your intake of fruits and veggies, it will definitely result in a healthier poop. But as paleo restricts grains and pulses, it can slow your digestion if you are already used to eating a lot of fibre. Keep drinking lots of water and eat non-starchy fruits and veggies to help move things alone.

4/7

Vegan

Vegan diets can be of two types – a diet loaded with vegan junk food, refined sugar, processed carbs and very few veggies and fruits and a diet that full of plant-based whole foods. This first one definitely makes a perfect recipe for constipation. But the latter results in super healthy bowel movements.

5/7

Intermittent fasting

People who have tried intermittent fasting have not seen much of a change in their poop. Though some people say they go less frequently. This is no problem as long as your bowel movements are consistent.

If you are consuming high-fibre diet on intermittent fasting, your bowel movements are definitely going to be smooth.

6/7

Gluten-free diet

In a gluten-free diet, when your processed foods are replaced by whole foods like beans, lentils, potatoes, brown rice and more, it’s great for your gut as well as your digestive system.

7/7

Verdict

Eating plant-based and whole foods every day is the secret to maintain regular bowel movements.
