5 Yoga poses to control Uric Acid naturally

High uric acid levels, known as hyperuricemia, can lead to several health problems, most notably gout and kidney stones. It can be painful, and cause a lot of discomfort. However, the good news is that apart from medication, you can bring down your uric acid naturally as well, through Yoga. Here are some Yoga poses that help... (this is not an alternative to medicines. If you are on medication to lower your uric acid, continue to take them along with doing these asanas)

Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)

Trikonasana improves digestion and metabolism, helping the body get rid of excess uric acid. It also stretches and strengthens your legs, and improves blood flow.

Stand with your feet wide apart.

Turn your right foot almost 90 degrees out.

Stretch your arms out to the sides.

Bend your body to the right, placing your right hand on your right foot (even shin is okay)

Keep your left arm pointing upwards.

Hold for 30 seconds, then switch sides.

Why it helps:

This pose stimulates abdominal organs and increases blood circulation, which helps in eliminating toxins like uric acid.

Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)

Bhujangasana, also known as Cobra pose, strengthens the spine and improves kidney function, helping flush out uric acid.

How to do it:

Lie flat on your stomach with your palms under your shoulders.

Slowly lift your chest up by pressing your hands into the floor, keeping your elbows close to your body. Do not do any sudden movements.

Look upward and hold the pose for 20-30 seconds.

Lower down gently.

How it helps

This pose stimulates abdominal organs and kidneys, promoting detoxification and reducing inflammation caused by high uric acid.

Pawanmuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose)

Pawanmuktasana improves digestion and metabolism, which are key to lowering uric acid levels. It also helps release trapped gas in the body.

How to do it:

Lie on your back and bring your knees to your chest.

Hold your knees with your hands and gently press them towards your stomach.

Lift your head so your nose touches your knees. (it's okay if it does not initially, do it as far as it can go)

Hold for 15-20 seconds.

How it helps

This asana helps release gas, and supports removal of uric acid, as it builds your metabolism.

Ardha Matsyendrasana (Half Lord of the Fishes Pose)

This pose detoxifies the liver and kidneys, thus helping in removing uric acid from the body.

How to do it:

Sit with your legs stretched out.

Bend your right leg and place your foot outside your left thigh.

Bend your left leg and keep your left heel near your right hip.

Twist your torso to the right, placing your left elbow outside your right knee and your right hand behind you.

Hold for 20 seconds, then switch sides.

How it helps

The asana compresses key abdominal organs, improves digestion and helps flush out uric acid.

Shavasana (Corpse Pose)

A simple pose, Shavasana helps reduces stress, which can increase uric acid levels.

How to do it:

Lie flat on your back with arms at your sides, palms facing up.

Close your eyes and breathe deeply, while feeling each and every part of your body.

Stay in this position for 5-10 minutes.

How it helps

Shavasana promotes deep relaxation and lowers stress hormones that can raise uric acid levels. Do it after you are done with the above asanas to make your body deeply relax.
