5 lifestyle changes that can help reverse Uric Acid in 3 months

High uric acid, or Hyperuricemia is a condition when your body produces too much uric acid, a waste product from the breakdown of purines. The condition can be extremely painful, and can lead to gout, kidney damage, joint pain, and other issues, if not treated on time. The good news is that apart from medications, Uric Acid can be controlled through basic diet and lifestyle changes, in under 3 months. However, these tips are not a substitute for medications, and should be done alongside a medical line of treatment. Here are 5 such tips…

2/6

Consume a low purine diet

Your dietary choices determine how well you can control uric acid levels in your body. The body transforms purines which exist in numerous foods into uric acid, during its breakdown process. The consumption of foods containing low purine levels helps decrease uric acid amounts in the body. Your diet should consist of fresh fruits and vegetables, together with whole grains and low-fat dairy products. The diet should restrict red meat consumption, together with organ meats and certain seafood types including sardines and shellfish, because they contain high purine levels.

Drinking enough water throughout the day helps your body eliminate uric acid through urine. The consumption of beer and sugary drinks together with excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided, because they lead to increased uric acid levels. A balanced eating pattern combined with portion control, helps control blood sugar and body weight which are essential for uric acid management.

3/6

Maintain a healthy weight

Excess body weight leads to higher uric acid production and decreased excretion, which results in body-wide uric acid accumulation. Even a small amount of weight reduction, will result in decreased uric acid concentration in your body. A combination of healthy eating and regular physical exercise, should be used to achieve steady weight reduction.

The body produces higher uric acid levels when you follow crash diets or fasting plans. A long-term approach to weight management, involves eating more fruits and vegetables, decreasing processed food intake while practicing portion control. Working with a healthcare professional or dietitian to monitor your progress, will help you stay focused on your weight loss journey.

4/6

Exercise regularly

Exercise in any form is good, but it is also excellent for weight control, that reduces Uric acid. Even if you are not overweight, exercising is a must if you want to reduce your uric acid in control. You can choose an exercise that suits your body, that include walking, cycling, swimming and yoga. Strength training will help as well, and you do it thrice a week.

Exercise helps decrease inflammation, while enhancing blood flow, which enables your kidneys to effectively eliminate uric acid from your body. People with joint pain or gout symptoms, should choose low-impact exercises because they provide better relief. The process of starting with low-intensity workouts then moving to more challenging levels, helps people build lasting exercise habits while avoiding injuries.

5/6

Avoid alcohol

The body produces more uric acid when you drink beer and spirits, while these beverages also decrease how well your body removes uric acid. When we drink alcohol, the body loses water through dehydration, which causes uric acid to become more concentrated in blood plasma. Reducing your alcohol consumption will help decrease uric acid levels in your body, while also decreasing the frequency of painful attacks.

The consumption of sugary drinks including soda and high-fructose corn syrup beverages leads to increased uric acid production. You should drink water and herbal teas, and consume fresh fruit juices (only in small amounts). The body can easily dilute uric acid while maintaining healthy kidneys when you stay hydrated.

6/6

Manage your stress levels

The combination of ongoing stress and inadequate sleep creates inflammation, which damages kidney function and hinders uric acid elimination. Deep breathing meditation and enjoyable hobbies serve as stress reduction methods which help you maintain mental calmness.

Your body requires 7-8 hours of sound sleep during each night. The body uses sleep to perform its natural repair functions, while maintaining hormone equilibrium that affects uric acid production. Establish a daily sleep schedule and reduce screen exposure during your bedtime preparation, to overcome sleep difficulties.
