Pregnancy is a phase in which utmost care and precaution need to be taken so that the baby is hale and hearty when born. Since the healthiness of the baby depends on the mother, the latter needs to eat and drink right in order to get proper nutrition.


Winter is a time when many fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables arrive in the market. Apart from being versatile and tasty, they are extremely healthy for pregnant women. Also, numerous foods are advised for pregnant women in winters. Here is a look at some winter foods for mom-to-be.

Spinach is bursting with folate, which makes it one of the best foods to eat when pregnant. Folate is a B vitamin that is a necessary for healthy infant development. It helps prevent serious defects of the spine and brain. Also, being a wealthy supply of iron, spinach helps within the manufacturing of purple blood cells that lowers the danger of anaemia.

One of the many nutrient-rich grains for pregnant women in winter is pearl millet, better known as Bajra. It is an excellent source of iron, which helps improve haemoglobin level. It is also rich in fibre, antioxidants, iron, zinc, magnesium, copper, and vitamin B.
