Protein drinks Sara Tendulkar swears by and why

Sara Tendulkar is known for her love for all things healthy and trendy. She often shares her food, fitness, and fashion choices on Instagram. From power-packed breakfasts to cheat day indulgences, she flaunts it all. And recently she shared two of her protein drinks that she swears by. The first one is called Mango & Pineapple Protein Smoothie and the other one is called Matcha Protein Smoothie. Let us learn the recipe and their benefits.

2/5

Mango & Pineapple Protein Smoothie

As per her post, it's a pina colada that went to the gym and to make it, you need 1 cup frozen mango & pineapple, 1 tsp ground flax seeds, 1 tsp shredded dry coconut, 1 tsp soaked chia seeds, 1 scoop vanilla whey protein, ½ cup coconut water, and a dash of coconut milk. Blend them together and your protein smoothie is ready.

3/5

Benefits of Mango & Pineapple Protein Smoothie

Pineapple is low in calories and rich in vitamin C, vitamin B6, manganese, copper, potassium, magnesium, and iron. The rich amount of vitamin C helps boost immunity, iron absorption and overall health and development. Pineapple contains bromelain, a group of digestive enzymes that helps break down proteins, facilitating better digestion and nutrient absorption. According to Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford universities, flax seeds are tiny but powerful seeds, which are rich in omega-3, especially ala, and these are anti-inflammatory. However, the human body cannot absorb much from whole flax seeds, hence, it is better to grind them and add them to diet. They help with bloating, hormone balance, and even cholesterol management. And as per PMC, mango is rich in antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties that help reduce inflammation and also protect the gastrointestinal tract.

4/5

Matcha Protein Smoothie

According to Sara's post, this smoothie offers over 30g of protein, with matcha and is good for skin too. To make it, you need 1-2 pitted dates, 1 scoop vanilla protein, 1 scoop collagen peptides, 1 tsp matcha powder, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1-2 tbsp unsweetened almond butter, and a few ice cubes. Blend them together and enjoy!

Benefits of Matcha Protein Smoothie

For the unversed, matcha is a type of finely ground powdered green tea made from specially grown and processed young green tea leaves, traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. According to gastroenterologist Dr. Joseph Salhab, matcha is rich in antioxidants that help protect liver cells from damage. And according to celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar's post on Instagram, dates are helpful in improving hemoglobin (Hb) and energy levels. They are also useful in treating sleep disorders, fight most infections and allergies, and also boost exercise performance. They are also helpful in relieving constipation and acidity. Also, in 2018, Rujuta had shared a post, where she mentioned that those who are on weight loss regime, should eat dates, as they facilitate reducing flabs. She also mentioned that dates are helpful for women during periods, as they prevent midnight cramps.
