The upcoming wine trends of 2022

If you are a wine lover like us, then you’d be knowing the fact that wine is like universe, always and always expanding. While the past year was all about women winemakers and light reds, the upcoming year is expected to be about Canadian orange wine and organic wine. These trends are based on the Wine Trade Monitor study conducted by Sopexa and lists all the latest trends of the wine industry. (Image courtesy: Canva)

The year of organic wine

According to the international study, this is the category that's tipped to be the most successful in 2022, according to 45% of the wine industry stakeholders surveyed among 1,044 wine import and distribution professionals from eight countries worldwide.

Rosé is going to be the winner

Red wine is considered as the basic drinking habit of French people. According to the study, rosé is going to be the top-seller in 2022. Drinking this wine is equally popular in the United Kingdom as well. Also, it is Provence wine that leads the way in this category, ahead of Languedoc and Italian wines.

Global wine trends

Talking about the global trends, on one hand, the Chinese will enjoy Asti Spumante (which is a mild and sweet Italian sparkling wine) while the Canadians & Japanese will look forward to orange wine. This wine is made by processing white grapes in a way which is typically used to make red wine, where the grape skins aren't removed. Appreciating the tannic taste and acidity of this wine, French people are also beginning to like orange wine. Going to the west, the Britishers like to drink Prosecco while the Americans love their vinho verde.
