International Men's Health Week

International men’s health week is celebrated to make men aware about their health and get general health checkup done regularly because it’s easy to cure the problem when diagnosed at an early stage. If you are a man who wants to do more for self care or a woman who wants to inform her man that it is okay to talk about health issues then this is the right time. Men tend to keep their mental issues to themselves and therefore end up in stress, depression or anxiety. Suppressing the emotions is dangerous as it leads to self harm. According to the latest statistics around 75% of suicides are committed by men. Some men also choose drinking alcohol or smoking to relieve their stress which leads to various illnesses. Most of the men above the age of 30 suffer from heart diseases or obesity which could be fatal if not taken care of properly. International men’s health week is a type of campaign which encourages men for regular health checkups, talk or share their problems with their loved ones and maintain a positive relationship with their mind and body. To be physically and mentally fit, diet plays an important role. A healthy inside starts from the kitchen. Men being the bread earner of the family work for longer hours which affect their food habits and diet. Soy products

Soy products like tofu are great for men’s health. They are not just packed with loads of protein but have all nine essential amino acids. A great source of vitamin B, zinc and magnesium, tofu tastes luscious with a drizzle of lemon and some salt and pepper.

Soups and salads

A nutrition rich diet is necessary to prevent health issues. As most men suffer from heart diseases and obesity, consuming vegetables on a daily basis is necessary. Adequate greens like lettuce, beans, cucumbers or boiled vegetable soup must be included in the diet. Leafy vegetables are rich in vitamin C and lutein which not only aids digestion but also promotes a healthy living.

Oats and quinoa

Being incredibly nutritious, both oats and quinoa are rich in antioxidants. They help in controlling blood sugar levels and bad cholesterol. When cooked with loads of vegetables they taste delicious and are filling. Oats and quinoa also run low in calories and help lose weight.

Pumpkin seeds

Easy to savor, dry pumpkin seeds are rich in omega 3 and omega 6. Beneficial for both heart and liver, pumpkin seeds help lower the amount of cholesterol in the blood and decrease the risk of heart diseases in men.

Peanut butter

Not just because it tastes good, peanut butter is beneficial for heart health and weight loss as well. Men should prefer eating peanut butter layered on a bread toast for a wholesome meal which helps in body building and managing blood sugar levels.

Protein-packed dairy

Dairy products like yogurt or milk help promote muscle growth after exercise. It’s a good idea for men to include a glass of milk or Greek yogurt in their breakfast combining with whole grain toast. Further adding some nuts to a bowl of milk can satisfy taste and also promote high energy level in men throughout the day.
