Diwali 2025: Eat and repeat sweet treats made with oats

Diwali 2025 is the perfect occasion to indulge in sweet treats without the guilt by incorporating oats, a nutritious and wholesome ingredient. Oats not only add fiber, protein, and essential minerals to festive sweets but also help balance blood sugar levels and support digestion. These oat-based sweets are ideal for health-conscious families and those looking to enjoy traditional flavors with a modern, healthy twist.

2/6

Oats Laddu

Roast 1 cup of oats until aromatic, then grind coarsely. In a pan, melt 1/2 cup jaggery with a splash of water and add roasted oats, 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews), and cardamom powder. Mix well, shape into small balls while warm, and let cool. These laddus are quick, nutritious, and perfect for festive snacking.

3/6

Oats Kheer

Boil 1/2 cup oats in 2 cups milk until soft. Add 1/4 cup chopped dry fruits, 3 tablespoons sugar or jaggery, and a pinch of saffron or cardamom. Simmer until creamy. Serve warm or chilled. This comforting pudding offers a healthy twist to traditional kheer.

4/6

Oats and Coconut Barfi

Roast 1 cup oats and 1/2 cup grated coconut separately. Mix both with 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup jaggery, and a pinch of cardamom powder in a pan. Cook on low heat until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan. Pour into a greased tray, let it set, then cut into squares. This barfi is rich in texture and fiber.

5/6

Oats Halwa

Roast 1 cup of oats until golden. Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a pan, add oats, and stir for a minute. Add 2 cups of milk and cook until the milk is absorbed. Sweeten with jaggery or sugar and garnish with nuts. This halwa is a wholesome, fiber-rich dessert to enjoy.

6/6

Oats and Dates Roll

To make this sweet just take 1 cup oats, 10 soaked dates, and 1/4 cup nuts in a blender and blend until sticky. Press the mixture into a thin layer on parchment paper, refrigerate until firm, and cut into rolls or squares. These energy bites are naturally sweet and perfect for a Diwali gift or snack.
