But at the same time, there are days when you crave something delicious to enjoy during fasting. So, if you are among those, then always choose fiber-rich items like sweet potato, also known as shakarkand. For the unversed, sweet potatoes are one of the healthiest root vegetables and an ideal alternative to regular potatoes. They are rich in vitamin A, and even studies suggest that they are rich in antioxidants such as anthocyanins and carotenoids, which help neutralize free radicals, reduce oxidative stress, and may lower the risk of chronic diseases like cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. Here are a few easily digestible sweet potato dishes one can enjoy while fasting.

This is a sweet delight and to make it, simply boil sweet potatoes, mash and cook with ghee, sugar, and milk until thick and aromatic. Garnish with nuts and cardamom powder. Enjoy!

To make thisd dish, you need to simmer mashed sweet potatoes in milk until it thickens. Once done, add sugar, cardamom, and saffron until creamy. Top with chopped nuts and enjoy warm or serve cold.

Take boiled sweet potatoes, pan fry in ghee until they turn crisp and golden. Season with cumin powder, sendha namak, black peper, and lemon juice, Garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy.

For this instant laddoo, combine mashed sweet potatoes with roasted kuttu flour, jaggery, and ghee. Shape them into round balls and garnish with chopped nuts for a healthy and delicious snack.

To make this savoury treat, mash boiled sweet potatoes and add spices like cumin, coriander, and chili powder. Shape them into tikkis. Shallow-fry or pan-fry in ghee and serve with mint chutney for a flavorful appetizer.

This is for those who love dosa a lot. Prepare dosa batter by blending soaked sabudana and kuttu flour, and also mashed boiled sweet potato. Season with sendha namak and cook dosa on greased dosa tawa. Enjoy with coconut chuntey.
