What happens when you eat a kiwi daily

Kiwi is a humble fruit loaded with powerful nutrients. It is said that this nutrient-rich fruit is packed with vitamin C, vitamin K, fiber, and antioxidants, making it a powerhouse for health. Regular consumption of this fruit helps boost immunity, digestion, and supports heart health by managing blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Its high vitamin C content promotes collagen production, keeping skin healthy and glowing, while antioxidants protect the body from oxidative stress. It also aids better sleep and weight loss. Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford universities, recently shared a post on Instagram, where he discussed seven reasons to add a kiwi in your diet daily. Scroll to read the details and five easy recipes that one can prepare at home.

Natural constipation relief

As per Dr Sethi, kiwi has a type of fiber that pulls water into your stool, making bowel movements softer, easier, and more regular.

3/9

IBS friendly

Unlike many fruits, kiwi is naturally low FODMAP, meaning it's less likely to trigger bloating, gas, or pain in the people with IBS.

4/9

Fiber that works

One kiwi has 2-3 g fiber, but it's the kind of fiber that makes it powerful for gut motility and stool consistency.

5/9

Digestive enzyme

Kiwis contain actinidin, a natural enzyme that helps break down protein and improves how your gut handles heavy meals, informs Dr Sethi.

6/9

Clinically proven

Research shows that eating just 2 green kiwis per day can significantly reduce constipation symptoms within a few weeks.

7/9

Better than supplements

Studies suggest kiwi works as well as, and sometimes better than, common fiber powders or pills, without the artificial additives.

8/9

More than just gut health

Besides digestion, kiwis deliver vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants that support your immune system and fight inflammation, concludes Dr Sethi.

How to use kiwi

Kiwi Smoothie: Blend peeled kiwi with banana, yogurt (or milk), and a little honey for a creamy, tangy smoothie.
Kiwi Fruit Salad: Combine chopped kiwi with apples, oranges, pomegranate, and a squeeze of lemon juice for a colorful, vitamin-rich salad.
Kiwi Chia Pudding: Layer chia seed pudding (soaked in milk or coconut milk) with kiwi puree and fresh kiwi slices for a healthy dessert or breakfast.
Kiwi Salsa: Mix diced kiwi with onions, tomatoes, jalapeño, coriander, and lime juice. Serve with nachos or as a topping for grilled chicken/fish.
Kiwi Popsicles: Puree kiwi with a little honey and freeze in molds. For a twist, layer with mango or strawberry puree for a colorful treat.
