Foods that can boost hydration level of coconut water

The sudden change in weather has also brought a lot of dietary changes. From a piping hot cup of tea, many of us have moved to cooling coconut water as the perfect morning drink. And why not? It is a natural source of nutrition and hydration. This refreshing drink is loaded with electrolytes like potassium, magnesium, and sodium, which help keep the body hydrated and support muscle and nerve function, making it an ideal morning beverage. As per the Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International, a study titled "Coconut Water: A Review on Its Health Benefits, Pharmacological Properties and Traditional Uses" states that its low calorie and high antioxidant content aids in detoxification, boosts skin health, and supports digestion. While the water is naturally hydrating, the weather calls for extra care. So, here are six foods one can add to coconut water to make it an even more hydrating morning drink.

2/7

Chia seeds

These seeds are said to absorb water and form a gel-like texture, which helps keep the body hydrated for longer periods. According to a study, these seeds are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids that contribute to cardiovascular protection. And the rich fiber content benefits digestion and slows glucose release.

3/7

Lemon juice

Coconut water is rich in electrolytes like potassium, sodium, and magnesium and lemon juice is rich in vitamin C and enzymes that support hydration. According to experts, while lemon is acidic, it has an alkalizing effect after digestion. When combined with alkaline coconut water, this drink helps balance body pH and reduce acidity.

4/7

Raw honey

According to Ayurveda, they both help boost immunity. Raw honey is rich in antioxidants, enzymes, and antimicrobial properties. Combined with coconut water, it helps fight infections and supports overall immune health.

5/7

Mint leaves

They together make for a refreshing drink that helps cool down the body, boost digestive health, and aid detoxification. The leaves are said to stimulate digestive enzymes, while coconut water soothes the stomach and reduces bloating and gas.

6/7

Cucumber

They are made up of about 95% water and when combined with coconut water, they make a super hydrating combination that helps keep the body cool and hydrated.

7/7

Basil seeds

These seeds are known for their cooling and hydrating properties. They help regulate body temperature and support digestion.
