What happens when you consume dairy products with these foods

From breakfast to dinner, we have a habit of consuming a lot of dairy items, and knowingly or unknowingly, we combine a lot of dairy items with other foods. For instance, dahi with paratha, chai with samosa, and so on. But did you know that dairy items are not meant to be clubbed with every food? According to Ayurveda, combining dairy foods with certain other foods is termed as viruddha ahara (wrong food combination), and one should avoid consuming them together. Dimple Jangda, a wellness and nutrition expert, recently shared a reel on Instagram and explained four types of foods one should avoid combining with dairy items. Her post read, "Did you know dairy is not compatible with all food groups, and the wrong combinations can cause indigestion, gut health issues, and even skin issues?" Scroll down to read the details.

Cheese and fruits

Fruits should never be paired with cheese, as the former have active acid, sucrose and fructose, which reacts with the active bacteria found in cheese. They start fermenting, rotting, and releasing gases in the gut, explains Dimple.

3/5

Curd with lentils and pulses

According to Ayurveda, the combination of curd with lentils and pulses is viruddha ahara. Dimple explains that lentils and curd both are sources of protein and one should not consume two sources of protein together, as it might lead to sluggish digestion.

Dairy food with meat, seafood and eggs

As per Dimple, using dairy items for marinating meat or seafood is not a healthy practice. It can lead to indigestion, bloating, acidity, and severe skin issues.

5/5

Dairy with salty snacks

Many of us have a habit of consuming dairy items like chai with deep-fried and salty snacks. Dimple suggests avoiding the practice, because the salt in the snack and oil in it causes the dairy to curdle and ferment in your gut leading to bloating, gas, and flatulence.
