When it comes to Indian cuisine, red lentil or masoor dal, green gram or sabut moong dal and split black gram or urad dal are some of the most commonly consumed lentils. All these three dals are known to be very powerful and are known to be rich in protein, vitamins B, folate, potassium magnesium, dietary fibre, iron and calcium. Green Moong Dal

It might be one of the top choices for people who are looking for comfort food and when a person is sick, moong dal has several other uses as well. You will be surprised to know that this one dal can solve all your skin problems. So, whether you want to consume it or not, that’s your choice but this one usage will make you keep it in the pantry. This dal has special powers that can help exfoliate your skin and remove all those dead cells, which further helps in brightening & softening the skin. This dal also helps in hydrating your skin well, which can make it look shiny. Also, if you have some facial hair and do not want to bleach them, use this dal as a face pack to simply remove that unwanted facial hair. One of the major benefits of using this dal on the skin is that it can help prevent acne and pimples while removing that sun tan.

Here is a face mask that can help you remove that unwanted facial hair

Soak 4 tsp of moong dal overnight and grind it into a paste the next morning. Add 2 tsp of orange peel powder and 2 tsp of sandalwood powder to the paste. Add some milk, and mix well to make a paste. Apply this on your face and scrub gently for 10 minutes and rinse off with cold water for brighter skin sans unwanted hair.

Masoor Dal

Masoor or red lentil is one of the most powerful lentils you can find in your pantry and it is loaded with various health benefits. From tackling the signs of ageing to lightening those stubborn scars and dark spots, masoor dal is quite important for skin care. It can also act as an excellent cleanser while fighting acne and clearing blackheads. One can also use it as an exfoliator.

Use this mask for tightening those pores and getting rid of dark spots

Take 1/4 cup masoor dal and pulse in a grinder jar to make a fine powder. You can sift this powder or use as it is. Use a little rose water to make a paste of this dal and then apply on washed face. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, dip your fingers in a little cold water and exfoliate your skin. This face mask will act as a face scrub while helping in tightening those pores in your skin. Wash it off with cold water.

Urad Dal

Probably, you must have seen these white lentils only when your mother makes Dosa, Idli and Bhalla batter. But, it has many more uses than just making these delicious foods. The amount of nutrition present in this dal makes it healthy for consumption during pregnancy as well. But, did you know this dal can help in removing that stubborn tanning from your skin while making it look acne free?

Here’s a simple face mask that you can use to lighten those acne marks.

All you need is ½ cup of soaked urad dal, 1 tbsp rosewater, 1 ½ tbsp glycerine, and 1 tbsp coconut oil. In a blender jar, pulse the soaked dal to make a fine paste. Once done, transfer it to a bowl and mix rose water, glycerin, and coconut oil into it. Mix all the ingredients well. Apply this face mask to your skin and let it sit for around 20-25 minutes and then rinse off with cold water. You can apply this mask once a week for the best benefits. Also, you can add or lessen some quantity depending on your skin.
