Home remedies to boost digestion in monsoon

The change in weather often leads to stomach infection and pain. Hence, it is important to pay attention to eating clean and healthy foods. Ayurveda recommends indulging in light foods that are easy on the gut lining. Shweta Shah, a celebrity nutritionist, recently shared a 1-day Ayurvedic detox plan on Instagram that can help with protecting the gut and boosting digestion. Scroll down to read the details.

2/5

Pomegranate Peel Tea

To make this tea, simply boil 200 ml of water in a saucepan. Add a few free peels and simmer it for 5 minutes. Strain and sip all day.
Why: According to a study, pomegranate peel is a nutrient-dense natural product with a wide range of potential health applications supported by phytochemical research and emerging pharmacological studies. These peels offer several functional and nutraceutical qualities owing to their bioactive ingredients, including lowering blood pressure, reducing oxidative stress, lowering cholesterol levels, and restoring heart health.

3/5

Jeera and Ajwain Water

Soak equal quantities of jeera and ajwain in water overnight. Strain and drink it the whole day. It keeps digestion strong and bloating away.
Why: According to a study, cumin extract significantly decreases abdominal pain, bloating, fecal urgency, and mucus discharge in stool, improving stool consistency and defecation frequency in IBS patients.

4/5

Mint and Coriander Juice

Simply juice them together along with some water. Strain and drink with a pinch of black salt and lemon juice in it. It is fresh, cooling, and cleansing.
Why: It is said that the fiber content of coriander aids in regulating bowel movements and maintaining a healthy colon, while antioxidants protect gut cells from oxidative damage.

Note

In the video, Shweta strongly suggests skipping grains for the day and just focus only on these 3 drinks at intervals.
